Diwali Fire Works Celebrations

This Year Diwali Fire Works Celebration at Hindu Center will be on October 29th Saturday Evening from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Please do not bring any fire works from outside there will be Fire Works available at HCV. Please Car Pool for this event as there might be a car parking fee for this event. Snacks and Dinner will be available at HCV Canteen.

Dussehra Celebration

(Burning the effigy of Ravana)

On Monday, October 10th, we will celebrate the victory of right-

eousness over darkness with the burning of an effigy of Ravana.

The burning of the effigy will start at about 7 PM. Prior to that

there will be Vidya Aramba puja @ 6PM. This is a special puja

to initiate children into the world of letters and learning and

Dussehra being an especially auspicious day (symbolic of victory

of light over darkness) to begin this journey. We invite everyone

to join us. The Canteen will be open in the evening till 9 PM on

that day.

Volunteers are needed to build the effigy. If interested, please

contact Vijay Ramnarain (477-2136) or Sudhir Jain (754-2755).

This is a special event for children and we hope to see all chil-

dren on October 10th at 6:00PM.

Booking Pujas — New Process

For booking puja in the temple or at your home, contact Puja

Committee at [email protected]. Please pay for all

religious services at front desk so we can provide you with proper

and timely receipts. In absence of front desk volunteer, please use

the envelope at the front desk for cash or checks. Payments with

credit cards may be done through the computer at the kiosk. For

The Hindu Center of Virginia encourages all community

members to avail the well equipped classrooms in the tem-

ple as well as the community hall with kitchen (NO COOK-

ING) for your needs. You can rent the hall for your family

activities that do not conflict with the temple religious ac-

tivities. Facilities are available for rent to conduct lan-

guage, art, dance classes, meetings, private functions such

as birthdays and marriages as well as religious ceremonies
