Minutes of quarterly WTA meeting for the period II/2013-14 (July - September, 2013) held with the representatives of RWF and Zonal Railways/PUs in Rail Bhawan, New Delhi on 11.07.13 has been uploaded on Indian Railway's website www.indianrailways.gov.in . WTA Meeting 2 nd quarter -11 `h July, 2013/RWF

Railway Units : COSs/CMMs/JAGs Officers of Zonal Railway & Production Units, CWEs & other Officers of Mechanical Department of Zonal Railways & Production Units.

RWF/Banalore

• In 1 st quarter of 2013-14, RWF supplied 50342 wheels (including wheels for wheelsets), 16261 wheelsets and 22,232 axles (including axles for wheelsets).

• RWF has started reconciliation of pending purchase orders. Oldest purchase order should be closed first and details uploaded on the net so that Zonal Railways/PUs can reconcile their position..

• Supply of WTA items are to be regulated as per the Purchase orders placed by Railway Board. CME/RWF requested for the placement of Purchase orders for some of the items so that quantity supplied can be regularised.

SAIL/DSP

• SAIL/DSP supplied 12023 wheels and 1982 axles in last quarter. SAIL/DSP was reminded about their commitment to fully switch over from plate type loco wheels to S-type loco wheels from 2014-15.

• WAG-9 loco wheel is being developed by SAIL/DSP. Forging of 10 wheels has been completed. SAIL/DSP has been requested to expedite the supply of ordered quantity of 500 nos. in 2nd quarter.

• SAIL/DSP is developing LHB wheels also. Out of the above two wheels priority for development should be of WAG-9 wheels.

• DGM/SAIL stated that in 2013-14 SAIL/DSP will be in a position to supply 50,000 wheels(approx) and 8000 axles.

RWP/Bela

• AM/PU stated production of wheels at RWP/Bela Plant has started on 27 th May and plant could be operated satisfactorily for 3 weeks. AM/PU stated that RWP/Bela will not only meet the target of 10000 wheels in 2013-14 but also exceed the same. Adequate availability of scrap for RWP/Bela is to be ensured for continuous &.enhanced level of production at RWP/Bela.

Submission of Indents.

• Due date of submission of Indents for 2015-16 for WTA items is 31/07/2013. Provision of Buffer stock of 6 months for imported items and 3 months for indigenous items is to be ensured while assessing the requirement.

WTA Meeting 2 nd quarter -11 th July, 2013/RWF

EMU Wheels • Railway units were advised again to ensure judicious use of EMU wheels (Forged & Cast). For

Trailor Coaches, cast wheels are to be utilized and use of forged wheels should be restricted for Motor Coaches. Supply for forged wheels through import is not expected in near future.

The position regarding supplies made by RWF during the previous quarter i.e. April - June, 2013 was discussed. The same is tabulated as under:-

SAIL/DSP

• SAIL/DSP supplied 12023 wheels and 1982 axles in last quarter. SAIL/DSP was reminded about their commitment to fully switch over from plate type loco wheels to S-type loco wheels from 2014-15.

• WAG-9 loco wheel is being developed by SAIL/DSP. Forging of 10 wheels has been completed. SAIL/DSP has been requested to expedite the supply of ordered quantity of 500 nos. in 2 nd quarter.



RWP/Bela

• AM/PU stated production of wheels at RWP/Bela Plant has started on 27 th May and plant could be operated satisfactorily for 3 weeks. AM/PU stated that RWP/Bela will not only meet the target of 10000 wheels in 2013-14 but also exceed the same. Adequate availability of scrap for RWP/Bela is to be ensured for continuous &.enhanced level of production at RWP/Bela.

Submission of Indents • Due date of submission of Indents for 2015-16 for WTA items is 31/07/2013. Provision of Buffer

stock of 6 months for imported items and 3 months for in, igenous items is to be ensured while assessing the requirement.

• Railway units were advised again to ensure judicious use of EMU wheels (Forged & Cast). For Trailor Coaches, cast wheels are to be utilized and use of forged wheels should be restricted for Motor Coaches. Supply for forged wheels through import is not expected in near future.
