SituationNorthington is a small hamlet to the North of Alresford in the heart of the Candover Valley, which offers some of the county’s finest countryside, being close to the South Downs National Park. There is a strong community feel in the area, which is fostered by the many events in the very well-equipped Swarraton and Northington Village Hall including a regular pop-up cafe.

SchoolsState schools in Alresford include Sun Hill Primary and Perins School (secondary). Preston Candover Primary School 4.2 miles. Princes Mead School: 7 miles, St Swithuns school: 10.5 miles. Winchester College 9 miles, Twyford Prep School 11.5 miles. There is a bus service in the village to both Preston Candover Primary and Perrins School.

Entertainment and shoppingPreston Candover and the hamlet of Totford have Public Houses. Shopping and leisure facilities are within a short drive at the bustling market town of Alresford, whilst more extensive facilities are available at Basingstoke and the nearby Cathedral City of Winchester. The renowned Grange Park opera which has a seven week summer season of productions is only 1.4 miles from the house. Alresford Golf Course is about 6 miles away, there is horse racing at Newbury, sailing on the Solent and fishing on the nearby Itchen and Test rivers. The Itchen Valley and surrounding countryside provide wonderful walks including the Arle Valley Trail and St Swithun’s Way.

HillsideHillside is a unique family house which enjoys an elevated location in the picturesque Candover Valley. The original house dates from the late 1880s, with later additions including a wonderful kitchen and family room which was created by the current owners around four years ago. It sits in a substantial plot totalling 0.9 acres.

Very well presented in a light and neutral style, the house is full of character, with high ceilings and some original features. At the front of the house is a generous driveway with plenty of space for parking. There is planning permission in place to build a double garage with galleried sitting room, adjoining the newly built family room.
