The Board of Education honored Lorraine Hamlin, Secretary - Meadowbrook School andJeanne Gunning, Resource Teacher - Meadowbrook School for completing twenty-five years ofservice to the Hillsdale School District.

Mrs. Pam Sileo and Mr. Frank Pizzella also gave recognition to the honorees on behalf ofthemselves and the MFFA.

January is School Boards' Recognition Month. Several speakers addressed the Board ofEducation: Mrs. Angela Iskenderian spoke on behalf of the Hillsdale AdministratorsAssociation Team; Ellen Davis spoke on behalf of the Hillsdale Education Association; Mrs.Louisa Toledo spoke on behalf of the George G. White School FFA; Mrs. Shane Svorecspoke on behalf of the Ann Blanche Smith School PTA; Mrs. Pam Sileo and Mr. FrankPizzella spoke on behalf of the Meadowbrook FFA; Mr. Frank Pizzella as Board Liaisonread the attached; and Mr. Richard Spirito thanked the Board of Education as well.(Letters of appreciation (attached) were also presented from the above speakers.)

Mr. James D. Hayden thanked all on behalf of the Hillsdale Board of Education.

The George White Family and Faculty Association (GWFFA) would like to take thisopportunity to thank each of you for your service to the Hillsdale community. Withoutyour efforts we would not be able to have the outstanding, compassionate, professional andsuccessful educational system that we have in our town today. We recognize your highlevel of commitment in all that you do, as well as your continued efforts to build upon ourstrong foundation and improve the ways our children learn with new equipment, staffdevelopment, and finding the funding necessary to move forward.

In an age where stress is sometimes a baseline in many families, and where learningseems to become a constant competition to prove who the best is, it is comforting to knowthat we have such dedicated professionals as yourselves overseeing our educational system.Yon work diligently to make sure Hillsdale continues to provide our residents with theexceptional educators, programs, and facilities that we have come to associate Hillsdalewith. Our students have truly benefited from your leadership and guidance.

We want to thank you for the countless hours that you have voluntarily given us tomake sure that our children are not just well-educated, but safe. We appreciate yourassistance in updating our school's security system, giving both parents and children aneeded feeling of safety in times when that may be hard to come by. pleased to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Spirito and the Board of Education for all

your dedication to all the students in the Hillsdale Schools. In your tenure as Board

members, you have shown kindn~ss, care a,nd given support in shaping our schools to

be a safe and productive educational environment for all learners.

You have demonstrated governing skills that far exceeded the requirements of being

a Superintendent/Board member and put our students first in all decisions you

made. We congratulate you in creating a system that demonstrates excellence in

education. Through your leadership, we are able to offer a fine educational program

and prepare our students to be productive members of society in a competitive world.

Your abilities in effectively managing governance issues are refrected in the highly

In addition to my role as president of MFFA. As a councilman and liaison to theBoard, I would like to thank you. It is difficult and stressful to put yourself outthere in public for one's community. The public is a tough crowd and for themost part offers very little praise. But your humility is greatly appreciated and Iapplaud your efforts and sincerely thank you for rising to the challenge asvolunteers to advocate for Hillsdale's children. Moved by Trustee Santo, seconded by Trustee Martino that the Board move the meeting to anExecutive Session at 8:37 p.m.

16. EXECUTIVE SESSION

WHEREAS, the Open Public Meetings Act and the Hillsdale Board of Education reservethe right within the constraints of State Law to sit in Executive Session, and

WHEREAS, there now exists a need for this Board of Education to meet in ExecutiveSession, now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED that the Hillsdale Board of Education recess into Executive Session todiscuss exempt matters pertaining to personnel matters; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the public will be informed1. When the Board reconvenes to the Regular Meeting business portion of this meeting

this evening; or2. At a later date, undetermined at this time.
