We are pleased that you have decided to apply to the Hill Scholars Program at Carroll Community College. Please read the instructions carefully and pay close attention to the deadline dates and the checklist of important information. The Admissions Committee is interested in getting a complete portrait of your academic and extracurricular profle. Your application, along with your transcript, test scores, teacher and guidance counselor recommendations and admissions essay will help us to evaluate you on your academic merits.

Instructions: Please submit your application along with a one-time non-refundable $25 application fee.* This fee is waived for Early Action Applicants. The deadlines for Early Action and Regular Admission are presented below. Each of the following documents is required to accompany your application:

• Ofcial High School Transcript (attached to the School Report form) • Ofcial college entrance exam scores (SAT or ACT) • Admission Essay • Two teacher and/or guidance counselor recommendation forms

Application Deadlines There are two options for applications, Early Action and Regular Admission. The benefts of applying under the Early Action option include a waived application fee, early notifcation of the admission decision and the peace of mind ofered in knowing that your college career plans are in place.

Financial Aid All students are encouraged to apply for a scholarship to the Hill Scholars Program. You may also wish to apply for Federal Financial Aid. The Financial Aid Program at Carroll Community College is designed to assist eligible students in meeting their college-related expenses. Financial assistance is provided through scholarships, grants and employment opportunities. Financial need is determined through a careful review of all information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the standard need analysis system that treats all students equally and fairly. Required Essay A sample of your writing is another means for the Admissions Committee to get to know you. Your expression of ideas and your ability to communicate clearly play an important part in evaluating your academic merit in a way that test scores and grades do not.

Applying for Scholarships

Institutional Scholarships Applying for Carroll’s institutional scholarships is simple. In addition to a merit-based Hill Scholars scholarship, you may be eligible for other merit-based and need-based institutional scholarships.

The online application process involves the following:

1. Visit Financial Aid’s Institutional Scholarships Programs web page at www.carrollcc.edu/scholarships and click on the Award Spring link.

2. Create a profle and answer some simple questions. You will be matched scholarships that ft your eligibility.

3. Once scholarships have been identifed, apply for each one before the deadline.

4. Look for the Award Spring link to become active in late February 2020.

Need-Based Scholarships It is your option to fll out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application online. Determining your fnancial need involves a careful review of the information you provide on the FAFSA. All FAFSAs are reviewed based on an equal and fair analysis system.

Merit-Based Scholarships Certain scholarships are awarded based on your academic record and intended major. For example, the Commissioners’ Student Leadership Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate leadership qualities and academic excellence. You need to write an essay about your participation in a service experience or a community activity. You may be able to use the same essay that you wrote for the Admissions Application.
