SENIORS: Saying Goodbye to the Great Class of 2014

Jalisha Braxton ’16 and Alexandra Loh ‘17

1

Jessica Blake

JBlake, our resident Comp Lit major, has a precision and intensity that just can’t be matched! Offstage, she’s a total sweetheart; but, when she performs, Jess is a beast, inspiring all of us to reach new levels. Good luck, next year, Jess!

Lisa Fierstein

Good things come in small packages, right? Lisa is always killing it, and despite having a crazy year full of an ORFE thesis, TapCats choreography, and RCA duties, she always made time to show some teal love! We’ll miss you, Lisa!

Missy Ijidakinro:

Coming to Princeton from the great state of Georgia, Missy is constantly ready to bring some of that “Dirty South” swag to the stage. She’s also got a heart that shines as bright as her smile – and her laugh is infectious! We love you, Missy!

M.E. Jonas

M.E. is a newbie, but you’d never guess it! She’s such

As the year draws to a close, we want to celebrate our six graduating seniors and say thank you for all that they’ve

done for HighSteppers!

a strong stepper! And she fits right into the teal family (so much sass on the GroupMe!). M.E.’s dedication to the team is unreal and we’ll miss her so much.

Aria Miles

Is there anything not to love about Miss Aria Miles? She’s definitely the sweetest, most genuine stepper and person around. She’s a true performer, a wise soul, and a role model for us all. Best wishes for the future, Aria!

Thomas Truongchau

If you see someone sporting some HighSteppers gear, 9 times out of 10, that swagged-out individual is none other than the wonderful Thomas Truongchau! Just make sure you still rep’ your teal family while you’re working

with the big dogs at Microsoft! We know you’re destined for greatness!

Bring It On! On March 29th 2014, the team braved the rain and Jonathan Lin ‘17’s singing to drive to New York to compete in SUNY Albany’s competition, March Madness: Step Up or Get Stomped Out! With a cheerleading-themed set inspired by the movie, Bring It On, we took home third place and great memories.

As a warm-up to our competition in SUNY Albany, we performed at the Ivy Policy Conference welcome event in the Carl A. Fields Center. Our audience was an excited crowd of student leaders from the Ivy League – and we definitely impressed them!

HighSteppers Wintersession Workshop! As part of a new USG initiative, student groups and individuals held informal workshops and classes during Intersession to teach new skills or hobbies. HighSteppers hosted a workshop: teaching basic step moves, a transition, a full step, and a stroll!

Guest Performances:

diSiac and Sympoh

In this semester’s guest performances, we showed off our moves with both old steps (who remembers “Floor Step”?) and new (be sure to learn “Lena’s Step” and “Dancehall” at Reunions!).

Other guest performances this semester: AASA’s Asian Pacific-American Heritage Month Poetry Event, a performance for Princeton Against Sex Trafficking, a workshop for the Learning Enrichment in the Arts Program (LEAP), and a performance for 6th graders who visited campus from Newark!

HighSteppers works very hard all year to put on memorable performances for family and friends both inside and outside the Princeton community. We’d like to thank our sponsors: The Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students, The Lewis Center for the Arts, The Urban Studies Department, The African-American Studies Department, The African Studies Department, our friends, our family, and supportive alumni for making all of this possible.
