ITINERARY

DAY 1 MON 1 JULARRIVE CHESTER

Tour commences at Chester, near Manchester, England. Check into our hotel and take a gentle stroll through the old city to get our bearings in this picturesque town. Welcome dinner tonight at the hotel.

DAY 2 TUE 2 JULBODNANT GARDEN

A grand start at the finest and most influential garden in Wales, Bodnant, with a series of broad terraces planted with a breath-taking display. Free afternoon in Chester to explore one of Britain’s prettiest towns.

DAY 3 WED 3 JULTRENTHAM ESTATE - WEDGWOOD

Travel to Trentham Gardens, Stoke on Trent. Rejuvenated by two of the world’s top plantsmen, it’s now a contemporary masterpiece. The World of Wedgwood this afternoon to see the very best of British craftsmanship.

DAY 4 THU 4 JULCHESTER TO YORK

To Chatsworth House this morning set on River Derwent in the Peak District, in a Capability Brown landscape. The Grand Cascade from 1700 tumbles down the hillside.

Continue to York and check into our hotel for 3 nights.

DAY 5 FRI 5 JULCASTLE HOWARD

Castle Howard today… remember Brideshead! Vanbrugh’s grand masterpiece set in the beautiful Howardian Hills. We’ll explore the gardens and see the Mausoleum, the Pyramid, Temple of the Four Winds and the New River bridge. Afternoon at leisure to explore York and attend evensong at York Minster.

DAY 6 SAT 6 JULHARROGATE, YORK

Visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr, a gem of a garden ... 5 stars! It pushes the boundaries of design. Stroll along the flower borders, woodland and the Scented Garden. Take a short drive into the charming Victorian spa town of Harrogate.

DAY 7 SUN 7 JULYORK TO LAKE DISTRICT

To the Lake District and the garden of Arabella Lennox-Boyd, Gresgarth Hall, a blueprint for design, proportion and plantsmanship. Then the unique topiary gardens of Levens Hall. Check into our hotel on Lake Windermere for 2 nights.

DAY 8 MON 8 JULWINDERMERE

Visit Beatrix Potter’s 17th Century farmhouse ‘Hill Top’, a time capsule of her life. The garden is lovingly maintained, faithful to her design, with all her favourite plants. Option this afternoon to cruise Lake Windermere.

DAY 9 TUE 9 JULWINDERMERE TO EDINBURGH

To Scotland today with a stop in Dumfries at Drumlanrig Castle. Don’t miss the restored Victorian glasshouses and Heather House. We have 5 nights to discover this beautiful city of Edinburgh.

DAY 10 WED 10 JULEDINBURGH

Morning visit to the contemporary sculpture park and art gallery of Jupiter Artland set within the picturesque 100 acre estate of Bonnington House. Free afternoon to explore Edinburgh.

DAY 11 THU 11 JULDRUMMOND CASTLE

To Perthshire and Drummond Castle, one of Scotland’s finest gardens. Its breathtaking with the best view from the terrace; worth

the climb! Kinross House is next, a neoclassical Palladian mansion built on Loch Leven.

DAY 12 FRI 12 JULEDINBURGH

A day around Edinburgh to visit a lovely cool climate garden with colourful borders and a collection of roses. Go onboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Queen’s floating royal residence. Enjoy the afternoon at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, home to a garden of Scottish heathers and the Queen Mother’s Memorial Garden.

DAY 13 SAT 13 JULEDINBURGH

Two fine gardens today; Abbotsford, the home of the famous novelist, poet and historian Sir Walter Scott. Then an inspiring contemporary garden with exquisite enclosed courtyards and garden rooms. Farewell dinner this evening.

DAY 14 SUN 14 JULDEPART EDINBURGH

Tour ends after breakfast.
