All proceeds benefit WRC Senior Services Resident Program Enhancement. Daffin Candy Bars Announcement Cork & Fork Join WRC Senior Services for the Cork & Fork Fundraising Wine Walk on Saturday, November 17, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Laurelbrooke Landing! There will be wine samplings from several different local wineries and breweries and food from The Bistro at Water Run! Tickets are $30 per person or $55 for a couple. Call (814) 849-1205 for tickets. Frank Zugell was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. Frank went to a Civilian Conservation Camp in Virginia as a teenager and then served in the U.S. Army with the 31 Infantry Division during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Although they were scheduled to go to Europe, plans were changed and they were sent through the Panama Canal to Asia. His Division saw action in the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies, and New Guinea. After returning to the States, Frank went back to Pittsburgh and practiced his vocation, that of a brick layer. He wrote a letter to the editor of the Pittsburgh Press about an important labor issue which caught the attention of Mayor David L. Lawrence. That led to a job with the city working on a variety of public works projects. As a resident at Highland Oaks, Frank keeps up-to-date on the latest news, participates in daily exercise, reads a lot, and attends most of our music programs.
