Monday Meetings Lampasas County Commissioners had a special called meeting this
morning at 9am in their courtroom on the 1st floor of the Lampasas
County Courthouse.
On the agenda was an item to approve a utility installation by Corix on
CR 2001.
Lampasas City Council is having a special meeting tonight at the
City Council Chambers. There will be an executive session concerning
issues related to municipal utilities and/or water supply.
The Council will then move into a workshop session to discuss the
funds overview and possibly take action modifying the fiscal year
2017 budget.
Meet the Teacher This Week With school going back into session for the fall semester next week on
Monday, it’s getting time for the schools to finalize their schedules
and get students placed into classrooms.
Here are the dates and times for Meet the Teacher and Open Houses

School Supply Drive About 115 kids showed up at the Kempner VFW School Supply
Drive over the weekend.
Free backpacks and other school supplies were handed out, and
there was a free lunch and the children were able to use fire hoses
and tour the fire trucks.
The Kempner VFW hosts 3 other free kids’ events throughout the
year. Halloween will be the next event, with a haunted house and
games and food; then a Christmas event with Santa and gifts; and
Easter with Easter dinner and egg hunts.
All of the events are free.

Immunization Opportunity A back-to-school immunization opportunity will be available this
week for children who need to get up-to-date with their immuniza-
tions for the school year.
This Thursday, August 18 from 10am-12pm, you can take your child
to the Pecan Apartments Health Fair in Lampasas for the immuniza-
tions, sponsored by WIC. No appointments are needed; you can just
walk in.
You can see and print your child’s vaccinations from the Lampasas
ISD website. Go to www.lisdtx.org and log into Family Access.
There, click on Health Info. (on the left), then Display Options (on
the top by the student’s name), then click on Show Vaccinations.

Sports Badger Football will be scrimmaging against Elgin on
Friday, August 19 in Elgin.
The first non-district home game will be August 26th at
Badger Stadium against Fredericksburg at 7:30pm.
Lady Badger Volleyball varsity was away at the
Wimberly Tex-Fest Volleyball tournament over the
weekend, and the Junior Varsity and Freshmen were
in Copperas Cove at a tournament as well.
Their next games are Tuesday, August 16, at Rogers
with Freshman and Junior Varsity playing at 5pm,
and Varsity starting at 6pm.

The Blotter Lampasas Police Dept. had a total of 28 calls for service on Satur-
day. No accidents were reported and there were 2 arrests as an 18 yr
old Kempner female was taken into custody at 2am at the intersec-
tion of Park Ln. and Sue Ann for possession of drug paraphernalia,
minor in possession of alcohol, possession of dangerous drugs and
possession of a controlled substance; and an 18 yr old Lampasas
male was arrested at 2:14am in the 20 block of Park Ln. for DUI-
minor and possession of a controlled substance.
On Sunday the Lampasas Police Dept. had 25 calls for service.
There were no accidents and 2 arrests as a 56 yr old Austin woman
was taken into custody at 5:24pm at the 300 block of W Ave. B for
a 2nd DWI and a 35 yr old Bertram man was arrested at 11:40pm in
the 1800 block of S Hwy 281 for public intoxication. .
Lampasas Sheriff’s Dept. blotter from Saturday shows 33 calls for
service, including a crash in Kempner, an illegal burning in Cop-
peras Cove, and an alcohol offense in Lampasas.
No arrests were reported for Saturday.
On Sunday, the Sheriff’s office had 22 calls for service. Lampasas
had a few traffic stops, a civil matter and some agency assists.
Kempner had a medical assist, a welfare check some animal calls,
and a civil matter. Lometa had two calls for traffic hazards, and
Copperas Cove had a medical call.
The Sheriff’s Dept. had 3 arrests on Sunday. A 35 yr old Lometa
man was arrested for theft and failure to appear., a 29 yr old Austin
resident was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of a
controlled substance and possession of a dangerous drug; and a 22
yr old Lometa woman was taken into custody for possession of a
controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of
drug paraphernalia and failure to appear.
