Project Value: £1,600,000 Project Overview: ACS managed the development and installation of upgrades to an existing high voltage substation to increase the current testing capabilities in Test Cell 7 at the Cummins Generator Technologies’ Ryhall Road facility in Stamford, UK. This project expanded Cummins’ ability to test the complete range of generators from 380VAC at 7,597Amps to 13,800VAC at 240Amps. New electrical equipment including a transformer, reactors and high/low voltage circuit breakers were also installed to electrically couple the generator under test to a newly installed slave generator. A new control room and office structure was also constructed next to the existing test cell. Key Performance Features: Substation A concrete block substation was constructed to house existing equipment and new switchgears. Trenches were also installed from the new substation to the test cell and exterior transformer/reactor for the high voltage cables. Transformer A bespoke 11kv/380-720v transformer was supplied to meet the expanded testing criteria.
