The CM 2800 Series furnaces are built for theindustrial environment with rugged floor mountdesigns and heavy-duty construction. Both frontloading and bottom loading configurations areoffered. These furnaces utilize lightweight aluminafiber insulation for fast response times and energyefficiency. Silicon carbide heating elements providerapid heat and cooling rates. The furnace is designedto operate continuously at 1550°C (2822°F) in air.

All CM fiber lined furnaces are constructed forproduction use. This includes heavy gauge steel forthe case material and structural steel for the frame.Hot surfaces are shielded with removable panels forreasonable skin temperatures while allowing quickaccess for maintenance purposes.

Front loading furnaces contain all controls and powercomponents within the framework of the furnace. A

separate power console is provided for the bottomloading units. Proper power control of silicon carbideelements requires a phase angle-fire SCR and step-down transformer. The standard control systemincludes a microprocessor based programmablecontroller, independent overtemperature control, transformers as required and type “S” thermocouples. The entire package is supplied complete and readyfor immediate installation.

The 2800 Series is available with a metallic retort for applications requiring atmosphere control. CMFurnaces specializes in inert, oxidizing and reducingatmosphere operation. When operating with a retortthe maximum continuous operating temperature islimited to 1150°C (2100°F). CM Furnaces’ HydrogenSafety System is used on hydrogen and combustibleatmosphere applications.
