What is a Makerspace?A Makerspace is a creative Do-It-Yourself physical space that provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to dream, design, build, experiment, learn and invent as they immerse themselves in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM).

Why does a school need a Makerspace?Children by nature have a natural capacity to create. Increasing evidence supports that students are more engaged, excited and feel personally invested when they are creating and making. When they are allowed to create personal, meaningful projects, they develop the habits of mind necessary to solve their own problems: a critical attribute of 21st Century learners.
