This job’s got some cool perks! Last week I went to

‘Generation Tech’, a technology fair for teenagers. It was

sponsored by The Gazette newspaper so I got a free ticket!

The fair was held in the O2 Arena in London and it was my

idea of paradise – even the name badges were digital! My

favourite thing was the stand where the high-tech gadgets

were displayed. I talked to the stand organiser, Kelly, about

some of them.

We see adverts on TV, at the cinema, on posters, on web

pages, in the newspaper and on buses – everywhere in

fact! But yesterday I saw an advert in a very strange place

– on a dog!

I was walking through the park with my friend Hayley

when we saw a green and red dog! Hayley said it was a

new type of advert. She told me it was called a ‘dogvert’!

(I’m not kidding!) I wanted to investigate so I spoke to Bill

Peterson, the man behind the idea.

Adam Hi Bill. Yesterday I saw one of your dogverts…Bill Oh, good! Which one did you see? Adam Um … well, the dog was green and red – my friend

said it was advertising a mobile phone company.Bill Oh, right. What did you think of it?Adam Um … well, it was certainly original! Where did you

get the idea from?Bill I saw some painted cows in the USA. They were

advertising something and I thought it was a great idea – a walking poster!

Adam So, you transferred the idea to dogs.Bill Yes, but first I talked to Sheila Wilson. She’s done a lot

of animal advertising in the USA. She told me that the idea was really popular there.

Adam Do you think dogverts will become popular in the UK? Bill Yes, I think so!

Bill said dogverts would become popular here, but I’m not

sure. A lot of people in the UK think animal advertising is

cruel. Bill said it didn’t hurt the dogs and he told me the

owners could remove the colour easily with shampoo.

Hayley said she was going to offer her dog to an

advertising company – she thinks it’s easy money! What
