STUDENT TRANSCRIPT INTERPRETATION PROTOCOL

Counselor completes Student Interview for

Evaluation of Transcript form, using Interpreter

if necessary

If/When transcript becomes available the counselor uses it and the Student Interview results to determine

the credits to be awarded

The preliminary determination of

credits earned, the transcript, and the Student Interview

results are submitted to the Director of Student Services

Director of Student Services convenes a

Central Office Committee to review

all available information and confirm credits

awardedLetter of final

determination of credits is sent to principal and

counselor within 3 school days.

NEWCOMER CENTER

Students who are:

• new to the country

• score a 1 on the screener W-APT English proficiency test

• Parents can opt out of the newcomer center option

• Grades 6-12

When students attend the newcomer center, you are notified about the transition back to the base school.

There has to be flexibility.

High school diploma ≠ medical degree from Harvard

Counselors are KEY!

Trust your experience and your professional skills. You have lots of knowledge.

Districts need to have a plan in place that ensures consistency across the district.
