aCademiC honorS4 credits of math: The four creditsmust include one credit for Algebra 2and one credit beyond Algebra 2.The credit beyond Algebra 2 mustbe earned via the following coursesor equivalent AP, IB or Running Startcourses: Algebra 3, Trigonometry,Analytic Geometry, Precalculus,Probability, Statistics, Introduction toCollege Mathematics, or Calculus.

AND4 credits of science: Of the fourcredits, one credit must be inBiology 1 or equivalent IB Biology;or AP Biology courses.

AND2 credits minimum from AP/IB/Running Start courses (equivalentto credits for 2 college courses).

Cte honorSCompletes program of study (2-3 courses in sequence plus astate-identified specific academic course requirement).• Earn a B or better in each required program of study (coursework).• Meet or exceed proficiency on performance-based assessmentsfor corresponding program of study.

Grade Point averaGe — Cumulative Grade Point Average applies to all graduates— Cum Laude: 3.0 to 3.5 | Magna Cum Laude: 3.5+ to 3.8 | Summa Cum Laude: 3.8+ and above

HONORS RECOGNITION CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTSIn addition to meeting the requirements for the Hawaii High School Diploma, the following must be metwith a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for a honors recognition certificate in one or more of the following:

CommenCement exerCises

Commencement exercises may be scheduled anytime after the last day of school for seniors. The lastday of school for seniors shall be set by the HawaiiState Department of Education. Students shall bepermitted to participate in commencement if they:

1) meet the requirements for a diploma or certificate;2) have fulfilled their financial obligations; and3) meet other conditions, as established by theDepartment, which meet the standards of clarity,reasonableness, and justifiability.
