Flamingos• The flamingos at the Hialeah Race

Track are world famous. **

• Hatchlings harvested - one of the largest groups in captivity (300)**

• 1937 the first successful captive hatching of an American flamingo.*

• 1940s Hialeah racetrack was a regular supplier of American flamingos to U.S. zoos, and continues to remain a strong source of captive-bred flamingos.*

• St. Louis Zoo, Bronx (N.Y.) Zoo, Birmingham (Ala.) Zoo, Oklahoma, Albuquerque, San Diego, Tulsa, Sacramento and more than a dozen wildlife parks across the country**

• The eggs add unrelated birds to the zoos' flocks so there isn't as much inbreeding, cutting down the genetic problems that causes. **

• They’re still there!
