MANUFACTURING CAPABILITIESOur manufacturing capabilities in Taiwan include a monthly capacity of 150.000 batteries and 80.000 chargers and flexibility to provide custom pieces. From a processing perspective, Hi-PAK has expertise in assembly technologies including soldering, resistance welding, ultrasonic welding, Glue jointed and packaging as well as advanced IC programming. We perform extensive in process checks for a number of electrical, mechanical and visual characteristics and track the performance of every lot with our traveler system. Yields, defects and shipments are tracked daily and posted in our factory for monitoring and improvement planning.

Hi-PAK has an extensive family of products for industrial, commercial and portable applications in the following areas:

2-Way RadiosHi-PAK has been involved in 2-way radio products for all chemistries and utilizing a wide variety of packaging technologies. Expertise in plastic design is critical for these products and Hi-PAK’s partnerships with plastic suppliers, the use of optical comparators and experience with design for assembly techniques and qualification procedures has allowed for high quality designs to be in production for many years.

ChargersA wide variety of single unit or multi-unit battery chargers, with all of the standard cell chemistries (Li-ion, Li-ion Polymer, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH,). Charging currents from 200 mA to 4 A with charge times between 2 and 240 minutes. Features include temperature controls, remote sensing and custom programming for OEM products.

High Power ProductsAs diverse as the capabilities for power tools, electric bike, electric vehicles and industrial products, Battery Voltage up to 228 V with discharge capabilities from 2 A to 40 A. Intelligent designs incorporate safety controls, Temperature monitoring, fuel gauge and cell balancing circuitry. Utilize off the shelf or custom charge control and power management IC’s.

Smart BatteriesIntelligent batteries are becoming more demanding and more common place in industrial applications such as lap top, electric bike, electric vehicle, 2-way radios and medical products. Hi-PAK’s capabilities are extensive and include HDQ, I2C, SM bus control circuitry and the use of the latest IC’s from TI, Dallas Semiconductor.

Soft PacksHi-PAK’s been involved in soft packs for over 20 years in a variety of consumer and industrial applications including IPC, POS, Scanner, Cordless Phones, shavers, remote controlled equipment, medical and electric toothbrushes. Safety, charge control and temperature protection are critical design elements and Hi-PAK’s use of high quality cells is crucial for high performance.

For each new product, a pilot run occurs during the first full production build and is assessed for quality, yield, and cost improvement opportunities. Technical capabilities include the following:
