It is the mission of First Baptist Church to worship and honor GOD with all our being and equip ourselves with the word of GOD, not
only to better serve our church, but to reach out to our community, state, nation, and throughout the world with the message of CHRIST.

Notes from Jeff Summer’s here! There’s so many reasons to look forward to this time of year… warm weather, vacations, cooking out, spending time with family. Then there are the mosquitos, the heat, and the sunburns. I guess we take the bad with the good. Another thing that is attached to summer is a downward trend in church attendance. I understand it completely. Some of my vacation sometimes falls in the summertime and I miss a Sunday. My encouragement to you is this. Make a commitment, right now in your heart, to make church attendance a priority this summer. Let’s don’t fall prey to the “regular” thinking that you just miss more in summer. Commit that unless you are out of town you will be here! It’s going to be an exciting summer of worship so don’t miss if you don’t have to.
ROAR Vacation Bible School will be
one of the greatest opportunities we have this summer to share Jesus with Sulligent. We need everyone. Please contact Stephanie or Aften and say “I want to be involved in seeing kids come to know Jesus at VBS.” There will be a place for you to help. Thanks for being a part. Husbands & Sons Choir, thank you so much for filling and overfilling the choir loft on Mother’s Day Sunday. What fun to see all of you head to the front and take your place. You did a great job on “Love Lifted Me.” So many ladies commented on how much they enjoy seeing you guys up there and hearing you sing on Mother’s Day. Thank you! Once again we cannot thank you enough for your giving to the YOUTH TRIP FUND. You have made our summer mission experience so much more affordable for our students! God bless this church and her giving spirit! You can give anytime throughout the year but know that our fund is in good shape at the present time. Please be in prayer for the group of 24 students and adults who are headed to Louisville, Kentucky to serve, minister, worship and be discipled. Ask God to do
a mighty work in our lives and in the lives of people in Louisville. I also want to remind you to pray for Riley Byars and Micah Seripin as they are serving in Arkansas and South Carolina this summer. Keep them in your prayers throughout this time. Church Choir…You are so much fun to sing with and be around! Thank you for your spirit and character as much as your talents! Our final rehearsal before summer break will be Wednesday night, June 5th! We will resume rehearsal in late July. I encourage you to take your choir time for the next few weeks and continue to serve or grow in some way. Commit to help with VBS. Find a summer ministry to spend time in. Read a book, may I suggest “The Songs of Jesus” by Timothy Keller. (I know, I don’t read much but I do read some!!) Instead of taking that hour and watching TV or whatever, find a way to continue to give that hour to the Lord. Kings Kids...What a wonderful evening! I have been singing “Wait for the Lord” and “The Peace of God” ever since that evening. You did a great job of leading us in worship that night and of reminding us of how if we belong to Christ then we have those fruits in our lives. They’re not there just for us, they are placed there to share with those around us. Thank you choir, actors, soloist and directors. To the directors, thank you for your service and commitment to the Lord through the Kings Kids ministry. You have done so much more that prepare kids to present a program. You have instilled the Word of God into them, you have given them an appreciation for worshipping through the gift of music, you have exampled to them how to serve the local church, you have modeled them a love for children; these things and more you have done for 15 years! Thank you Leigh, Molly and Amy. You have blessed our kids, our Music Ministry and our church. God bless you!

Tot Tracts Early Learning Center News by Mrs. Jennifer
This year has flown by so fast, and it has been such a joy to
watch these children grow in so many ways. We are now
looking forward to a fun filled summer. We will be having water
play days, movie days, snow cone days, play at the park days,
library days and so much more.
During the month of May, we had a great turn out for Muffins
with Mom, a wonderful day at the zoo, and our graduation and
spring program was just terrific. I could not have asked the
children to perform better.
I just want to thank everyone that has a part in making the ELC
a success. First of all, to the church for opening your doors to
such an amazing outreach to our community. Building and
ground, thank you for all your hard work in keeping things in
good working order. Prayer warriors, thank you for lifting up
the ELC everyday! Thank you to the ELC board for helping to
make important decisions to benefit this program. Church staff,
thank you for all you do in the office. Bro. Jeff and Mrs. Susan,
all I can say is
that you both
are amazing and
do an amazing job every Wednesday. Teachers, thank you
for your love and dedication to working in the lives of these
precious children that God has entrusted to us each day.
Parents, thank you for the sacrifices you make to enable us to
care for your little ones. We love each and every one of them
so much. I am sure I am missing someone or something, but
please know that we appreciate every part anyone plays in
making this a great place for children to grow and learn.
May God Bless,
Jennifer Goode- Director
