Investing in a Brighter Future The past few months have underscored how important it is for people and communi-ties to have a strong network of support and access to resources that will help build a brighter future for all. While we've strived to give back in ad-ditional ways throughout this period of unprecedented need, our ongoing invest-

ments in the local community are the foundation of the brighter future we envision. From educa-tion grants and economic development initiatives to innovative energy solutions and new technolo-gies, everything we do is aimed at strengthening our community.

Chief among Pee Dee Electric's contributions are economic development activities that lead to new opportunities for our members, pave the way for the success of local businesses, and give our communi-ties the resources they need to grow and thrive.

By offering zero-interest loans through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Economic De-velopment Loan and Grant (REDLG) program, Pee Dee Electric is helping create and retain jobs, promote economic development, and enhance community facilities and public services like emergency medical services and fire and rescue.

This can be seen through a recent partnership with Richmond County Economic Development, Richmond County, and the City of Rockingham.

Through the REDLG program, Pee Dee Electric was able to assist in providing funds for a fifth shell building to make the site more attractive to prospective industries. In early May, Richmond County announced that Impact Plastics would be expanding its operation and would move into the newest shell building. The expansion will result in a total investment of $13 million over the next five years, with an initial investment of $5.3 million and 13 jobs.

“Because we're owned by local cooperative members and based in this community, we know firsthand what our region has to offer. We're actively involved in helping other people and businesses recognize the tremendous potential of this area,” said Donnie Spivey, CEO of Pee Dee Electric. “We're committed to making mean-ingful investments that will support economic growth, job creation, and the long-term success of our members.”

� If you have a pool, running the pump all day could cost anywhere from $2.00 to $5.00 per day. $2.00 a day may not sound like a lot, but in a month can amount to $60. �The Department of Energy states that the “Comfort Zone” temperature should be 68 degrees in the winter and 78 degrees in the summer. Not everyone is comfortable at 78 degrees in the hot summer. But keep in mind that for every degree you go below 78, add 10% to the cost of your cooling. For example, if you lower your thermostat 5 degrees, you have added 50% to the cost of cooling your home. �Your appliances don’t know if you are home or away. So when on summer vacation, raise your thermostat to keep your energy usage lower.

Unclaimed Capital CreditsPee Dee Electric is looking for former members of the cooperative who have not claimed their capital credit general retirement checks issued in 2016. Below are names of former cooperative members who received electric service from Pee Dee Electric during 1990 and have not received their refund. A complete list of members/ former members who have unclaimed capital credits can be found on our website at PDEMC.com.

If you know someone whose name appears on the list, please have that person contact the cooperative at 1-800-992-1626. They will be asked to verify they are the correct person to receive the refund and a correct mailing address. If you recognize a family member or friend on the list that is deceased, please have the person who is in charge of the estate contact the cooperative. In North Carolina, we are required by law to send any unclaimed refunds to the NC Department of Treasury - Unclaimed Property Division.
