On March 27th, after the 3 professional adjudicators’ scores were averaged, L.A. Lutheran Concert Choir once again found themselves as a top choir and once again placed L.A. Lutheran as a top music high school by averaging an accu-mulated national average of 92%. Along with that high honor, they brought back to L.A. Lutheran the 1st Place Trophy from the Big Apple Classic for 2010!
Our Bops Jazz Choir brought home First Place and receiving a Silver Award with an accumulated average of 89% only missing their goal of a Gold Award by 0.6% of 1 point.
The strategy was to win 3 Gold Awards and thus take home the Grand Cham-pionship Trophy as well. Mr. Bauer organized a new choir to achieve this goal: The L.A. Lutheran Women's’ Choir. They performed brilliantly and won the Gold Award by averaging an accumulated score of 95%. They, too, were awarded the First Place Trophy for Women's’ choirs.

L.A. Lutheran students who worked many days and hours to create the musical, Peter Pan, have every reason to be proud of themselves. Under the direction of Ken Bauer the performances ri-valed professional levels. Peter Pan was presented eight times over the course of four days. L.A. Lutheran played host to over 400 elementary and middle school students from as far away as Hawthorne. The cast, crew and orchestra performed to a full house in each of the three eve-ning performances. Children and adults alike exclaimed their enjoyment of the performance. Teachers from the guest schools told of how impressed they were by the high quality of the entire performance from the acting and singing to the excellence of the orchestra.

All six of the L.A. Lutheran students whose art works were displayed in the 13th Annual High School Art Invitational Exhibition at Cal State University, Northridge (CSUN) attended the closing reception of the exhibit on Friday, January 30th. They joined the celebration along with other students, and their families and teachers, from over 50 public and private high schools in the San Fernando Valley.
L.A. Lutheran’s 1st Annual Student Showcase was Saturday, February 27. There were 158 pieces of art exhibited by six area schools. The theme of the event was “Art From The Heart” where the artists incorporated the shape of the heart into their creation.

On May 26, 2010, 58 golfers gathered at Angeles National Golf Club in Lake View Terrace for a day filled with challenging golf, sunshine, great food and loads of fun. The amazing golf commit-tee led by Troy Norton ‘84, Chairman, Joe Sullivan ‘99, Alumni Chairman started the day with a putting contest and lunch. On the course we had longest drive, closest to the pin challenges for men, ladies and seniors. On hole ten we had a new challenge, longest
marshmallow drive. Lots of laughs on the course. The day ended with a amazing buffet dinner of tri-tip and Chicken Florentine with salads and potatoes. Awards were made during dinner. The winning teams were awarded trophies. First place gross was the team from Big Wood Construction, Dave, Allen, Arnie Wood and Tim Colwell with a combined score of 57. First place net team was Kevin McCarthy, Clay, Jake Schmit and Mark Pekuri with a score of 61. We had two alumni teams and yes Troy Norton’s team won for the Alumni Challenge, again. The tournament raised $15.000 to help the athletics program at LAL.

The Way , The Truth, The Life 17th Annual Dinner and Auction
April 24, 2010
The Way, The Truth, The Life was an evening celebrating the way our student learn. They learn the truth about the four R’s. They also learn about life and how He wants us to live it. We had many parents, alumni, teachers and students share their joys of the quality educa- tion that has been offered for 56 years. The volunteers prepared a wonderful selec- tion of auction items. We had amazing amazing paintings by Gerry Brommer, Karen Sill and Karen Horn. We had antiques, pet gifts and trips to Ventura, Mendocino, Reno, and Mammoth. This year the auction was held at the award winning LA Mission College School of Culinary Arts. They prepared prime rib, chicken marsala, two kinds of potatoes and vegetable with Key Line Pie for dessert. The food was amazing! We introduced a new performance group this year, the Jr. High Choir and the Jr. High Jazz choir. We had a wonderful time. The auction is held each year to help raise money for the Annual fund. This fund helps make it possible for more students to attend LAL. We donated $16,000 on May 7th. This year we had a two part auction. After dinner we had a special wine tasting event. Kiler Grove Winegrowers donated a case of their excel-lent wines for tasting. Kiler was started by Linda Olson when her son, Derrick, at-tended LAL. Derrick shared the wine making process with us and we tasted three different and distinct wines. The whole auction wonderful time with friends and LAL family. Watch for information about the next auction and you too could be part of the
fun and fellowship. Please visit the Kiler Grove website and learn about this great wine and the people who blend it. This event is where we usually recognize alumni. We have not received any nominations! Please catch us up on what you are up to for our nomination committee.

Classmates from 12 states were represented. We had 37 classmates and their guests for a total of 62. The capacity of the private dining room for the reunion dinner at The Getty Center, Los Angeles was quickly reached. The weekend included: Friday night reception at the nearby LUXE Sunset Hotel. Saturday started with a brunch at the LUXE Sunset Hotel then on to the Getty Museum and Gardens for a group tours led by a docents. The evening started with a reception in the foyer of the private dining room. The dinner was then held in the private dining room over looking Los Angeles and the site of the original LAL at 70th Street and 8th Avenue in Inglewood. We enjoyed a gourmet dinner while sharing memories and catching up with each other. Sunday morning we gathered at Mount Calvary in Beverly Hills where one of our deceased class-Mates, Donna Schoessow’s father was the minister after the churches organization in 1956. Among the attendees from the class of 1960 were Ted Schroeder (Student Council President), Cindy Klenk (Homecoming Queen) and some members of her court, cheerleader Lynda Allerman and Bob Sitze (Junior Class President and editor of the 1960 “Paw Prints). The reunion committee members were Denny War-den, Nonarae Riceman-Hall and Ted Schroeder.

The Class of 1985 Reunion May 30, 2010 By; Jeannie Wegner
The class of 1985 just celebrated 25 years with a wonderful reunion at the Hyatt Hotel in Valencia, California on Sunday, May 30, 2010.This has been the third reunion that we have had and it did not disappoint. By using Facebook, much of the information was handled online. We wanted to include other alumni in our festivities. There were approximately 60 people in attendance not to mention three of our wonderful and talented teachers, Mrs. Pat Ehrman, Mr. Steve Borth, and Mr. Alvin Ludtke. I’m sure that all would agree, the graduates of Lutheran High are all such a unique group in that we are family. Is it that it was a small school or perhaps a Christian based education? I don’t know, but it is obvious that a great time was had by all with lifelong friendships rekindled and treasured always!
