The Army learns from NASCAR.

Very Important ColonelHaving just moved into his new office, a pompous,

new colonel was sitting at his desk when a PFC knocked on the door.

Conscious of his new position, the colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the PFC to enter, then said into the phone, "Yes, General, I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir."

Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young enlisted man, he asked, "What do you want?"

"Nothing important, sir," the PFC replied, "I'm just here to hook up your telephone."

the Week(S4 & maintenance)

SPC Goodemoot, AKA Turbo, owner and operator of the world renowned HOBO FURNITURE Co. has done an exceptional job since arriving in Iraq. He has greatly improved his fellow mechanics working conditions by hand crafting two benches, a chess table (which who ever has it I hope you are enjoying it), and 2 weapons racks.

CPL Williams has been doing an outstanding job as HHC Supply SGT, normally held by a SSG. Here he is posing with 50 Caliber rounds on his shoulder dealing with ammunition in temperature over 110 degrees outside.

HOOAH! GET SOME!!!!

Yup, these guys are commanding things and taking names! Seems like every time I turn around , they are out gallivanting across the desert somewhere. Keep in mind, it is all for the better good of the battalion.

MORTARS

The Mortars have been working extremely hard in order to prepare their 120mm mortar tracks for an upcoming live fire. A lot will go into the training and preparation of the mortar tube, but we all know the team is up to what ever it take to accomplish any mission.

LTC Daniels replaces MAJ Poole's combat patch with an appropriate one. That 4ID patch would have got you nowhere with Division HQ Sir!!!!

These past two weeks of been nothing short of relaxing for our platoon. CPL Williams and SPC Dorce have been running ramped with turn-ins of excess or broken equipment. SGT Leese and PFC McPetershave been busy learning how to operate track vehicles and SGT Merritt and SPC Stafford have been keeping up with the day to day tasks of the Training Room. We did however, take a moment to acknowledge , previously CPL now SGT Dougherty get promoted. It has been a long overdue promotion but we are all very proud of him. A special thanks to our families and loved ones back home for your love and support. You make our jobs here much easier. So again, THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!

Our guy Friday after promoting CPL Dougherty to SGT on 01 August

With the lack of a great barber, XO, CPT Bart Heffron has decide to take matters into his own hands. We see where that got him.

MEDICS

The Medics have been doing a lot of training/classes the past couple of weeks to maintain our EMT certification. We’ve had classes on medical ethics, SOAP notes, and IV training. We also ran a trauma lane with the casualty having multiple wounds.

S1

S-1 has been very busy. The work load continues. There has been a major increase in customer service since the arrival of the golf ball, the beach ball and square puzzles. Who will master them all?

SGT Hansen teaching one of the many classes we’ve had in the aid station. He’s still rocking the cavstache!! Hey that was last issue!!!!

SGT Balderas writing Accountable mail slips for the company mail clerks to sign and pick up their mail.

SPC Blandino (Bco medic) and SPC Britt (PSD medic) work together to stabilize a trauma casualty. (this is just training folks, no need to worry)

Hey Eddie, who’s the REAL Black Knight? You or SFC Woods?

SCOUTS

The Scouts have taken to the skies in training. Soldiers are preparing for Air Assault operations and learning the skills needed to fly. It is a better taxi then an HMMWV.

SPC Ayantade teaches medical training.

The Illustrious Platoon Sergeant hydrating.

S2

Knee-deep in the doldrums' of deployment, the S2 section has become synonymous with the phrase's: “Huh”, “What”, “I don’t know”, “Can you say that again”, “I swallowed a bug”, “I was just kidding”, “It was funny though, wasn’t it?”, “John Jacob Jingerheimer Schmidt”, “His name is my name too”, “Dave's not here man”, and “Welcome to S2, I love you”.

S3

The highlight for the S3 section the last couple weeks has been facilitating our Tanks and Bradleys firing – Nothing brings us more satisfaction than facilitating big booms that annoy and frighten all the Fobbits!

S4

The Last 2 weeks has been busy for the S4 shop. CPT Swartz has been busy with day to day operations. While SSG Ortega has been dealing with ammunition and coordinating movement for containers.

PFC Anthony Clayton employ’s his vast array of: training, conditioning, and his beyond human intellect to identify………………”wall”. “Wall” is a dangerous and adaptable foe known to impede operations such as : walking, wandering , and stroll’s.

SSG Ramirez taking a break between naps to monitor our Tank LFAST (Live Fire Accuracy Screening Test)

Every 2 weeks, SPC Dorceconducts inventory of Class I (food and such) before he gives them out.

PFC Christian Voelzow completes' a hard days work with the quote “Hey, I see it too”. Donning his fashion sensitive “G.I. Joe” cape he is the envy of the Staff Section’s.

SGT Nycz doing his dust storm dance

SSG Ortega is making sure he has Gatorade for the S4 Shop.

CHaPLaIN’s COrNErovercoming our past

by

chaplain jesus wallace

Today’s technology is very capable in healing many afflictions of the body. If we feel an ache, we go to

the doctor; so what about when it is not an ache but rather negative thoughts? Only God can heal the

mind. Usually our thoughts are derived from products of damaged emotions and traumatic events.

As some of us walk with God we face a challenge to

resist temptation by allowing our past to determine

who we are today. A pastor from Dallas, TX once said

“It is vital that we all proclaim: ‘I am not what happened

yesterday. I endured what happened. I survived what

happened, but I am not what happened yesterday!’”

Throughout my time in ministry I have found many lives

stuck on failed marriages, broken promises and

personal issues. The Word of God teaches in Philippians

4:8 that if we are going to be healed in our mind, then

we must reprogram ourselves to “think of better

thoughts” (Philippians 4:8).

We have the ability to make the choice on what we will use our energy. So choose carefully! The enemy

knows how to destroy our morality. He doesn’t start with an act but rather with a thought. It is often

said that “A thought is a seed that, if not aborted, will produce offspring somewhere in your life.”

We have the ability to channel through our thoughts but we have to choose in what channel we will be

in our state of mind. Good thoughts or negative thoughts? It is your choice and a very critical one to

make. Choose carefully and choose Godly. The enemy is waiting to destroy our marriages, to make us

feel uncomfortable, to kick us and destroy us.

To overcome a negative past, we must make the choice not to be stuck on the past. The past is gone,

and today is the present; a present given to us by God so that we can determine our future. We can

obtain a bright future but it all begins on our minds.
