Improving the Onboarding Process has its merits A research study published in Administrative Science Quarterly, suggests that by focusing on individual workers and their unique needs during the new-employee orientation process can help create satisfied and productive workers, reduce employee turnover and increase in customer satisfaction. It was found that when new employees were processed to accept an organization's identity, they are concomitantly expected to minimize their own identities eventually leading to employee burnout. By focusing some of the orientation on a new employee's individuality, new hires are encouraged to express their perspectives and strengths on the job rather than following a scripted behavior. This leads to increased levels of work engagement and job satisfaction with a lower turnover rates.
