The prayer ministry of our con-gregation is a large network of ministers, staff and laity partner-ing together in response to spe-cific prayer requests. Requests may be made by completing a
prayer card located in the pew rack, calling the church office or sending information to our e-mail prayer group. Information is transmitted via e-mail and later compiled weekly for the Monday Morning Prayer Group.
If you have loved ones serving in the military, please contact the church office so they can be added to this list.

Our church’s theme for 2018 is
ENGAGE. We want to find meaningful ways to engage with Christ, one anoth-er, and our community. This will require us to be faithful with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness.
I pray that you will commit to ENGAGE this year. When we engage our lives are changed, our church is changed, and our world is changed. You will be hear-ing more about how you can ENGAGE in the coming weeks and months.

Annual
Conference: WACO
June 10-13
GREETERS NEEDED!
The Central District will be hosting this year’s Annual Conference. To ensure we offer great hospitality, we will need many volunteers to help greet individuals walking in the doors of our churches and the Waco Convention Center. Each church is asked to provide two people who would be willing to serve one of the shifts during the days of Annual Conference. Please contact Bryan Patrick if you are interested in serving and representing our church at Annual Conference.

As I talk with people about church and doing new things a common theme is fear. The fear of the unknown, failure, change, or rejection. Yet we read in scripture,
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Fear should not be a motivating factor in life or in our work as the church. If we are going to be the church we have been called to be we must be willing to take risk and be bold. We must not allow our fear to be our guide, but the Holy Spirit. Even if we are unsure about what the outcome will be. Our children’s ministry trying something new with Summer-fest, Great Day of Service, and having a Christmas Eve Service not on Christmas Eve are examples of this. They require us to step out in faith and put our fear to the side. Instead we imagine what could be. Where do you need to set fear aside so you can help Woodway Methodist be the greatest church possible. Do you need to set aside fear and invite a friend? Do you need to set aside fear and join a class or group? Do you need to set aside fear and begin serving in some way? Our church is only as strong as each of us. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do next.
Grace and Peace,
Bryan

NO GOLF LEAGUE MEMORIAL DAY
Are you ready for some fun and a great way to get connected to others in our church? Do you wish your friends could experience the warmth and friendliness of our church? The Golf League is a great way to get them involved!
For twelve years, the Golf League has been a unique ministry in the life of Woodway First United Methodist. Not only is the Golf League a great way to make lasting friendships and build relation-ships, but an easy way to invite your friends and co-workers to be a part of our loving family. Your skill level is not important to us, but your willingness to have fun is!
As we start this season, please think about who you know that needs Christ and the warmth and care of Woodway First United Methodist Church - and invite them to join us!
See you at the course!

The United Methodist Church was officially formed on April 23, 1968 with the unification of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical Unit-ed Brethren Church, along with the dissolution of the Central Jurisdiction, a segregated group of African American congregations.
Fifty years ago, 1,300 delegates and 10,000 visi-tors met in Dallas, Texas on April 23, 1968 to celebrate the formation of the newly-constituted United Methodist Church. This merger of 10.3 million Methodists and 750,000 members of the EUB Church resulted in one of the largest Protestant denominations in the world. Flags from fifty-three countries testified to the breadth of the new reality.
