The anti- sufferagits cannot yet realize they are beaten. In some states the question has been raised as to whether the adoption of the nineteenth amendment will give woman the vote without any act of the legislature, but the answer seems clear, and most legal authorities have ruled so. When the word “male” is eliminated from the election laws, woman will automatically step into her place as a full citizen, and that such was the intent of the amendment. Woman suffrage is an accomplished fact. School begins next Mon- day. Get the children ready. Dr., Wohlleben reports several cases of summer Flu in the vicinity. A number of Herreid folks were down to the river picking berries the past week. Klaus Pool from near Pol- lock was up several times the past week having his boy’s hand treated for blood poisoning. Jacob Bauer of Hague was a patient at Dr. Wholleben’s of- fice Monday. While eating his meal he got something down his Sunday-throat and was subjected to violent cough- ing. The doctor removed the obstacle and the sufferer was much relieved. Rain Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday, and today has tied up threshing operations this week but helps fall plowing. The fall was much heavier north and west of Pollock. Isaac Boschker ,who is running a grain separator, with his gas tractor at the Smith ranch, reports a big job of threshing as they will have about 12,000 bushels of feed. He says barley is going 40 to 50 bushels and oats as high as 90 bushels per acre. 75 Years Ago Prairie Picayune September 6, 1945 A double wedding cer- emony was performed at St. Michael’s rectory Tuesday morning when Miss Bertha Schaefbauer, daughter of Mr. B.B.
