You have been accepted as a member of the Armored Crane smuggling cartel, a criminal organization run by the Nobuto vassal family of the Crane Yasuki. This produces the following benefits and effects:

• You gain one free Rank in the Underworld skill. • Your refreshing outfit money is increased by 2 Koku. If you are ronin, you gain 2

refreshing koku in your outfit. • You lose 1 point of Honor at the end of every adventure. • You are considered to have Dark Secret: Cartel Ties, and if this secret is ever

exposed, you will gain four Ranks of Infamy. • Once per adventure, you may roll Awareness/Underworld to gain a Favor from the

cartel. The base TN is 20 but it increases by 5 outside of Crab and Crane lands. This favor will be either a useful piece of information, a useful item, or some money (no more than 10 koku), whichever the GM judges to be most useful to you in the current adventure.

• If you ever betray the Armored Crane cartel, they will expose your Dark Secret and, in addition, you will gain the entire Nobuto vassal family as a 5-point Sworn Enemy.
