INT. ANGELAS LIVING ROOM - DAY

Blue lights flash upon Angelas face from a television, her

eye twitches with each flash, as though each one torments

her.

FEMALE NEWS REPORTER

(dramatically)

Hate crimes continue to escalate in intensity

toward our genetically superior counterparts.

What had started out as friendly and welcoming

greetings have quickly turned sinister.

MONTAGE PREVIOUS EXAMPLES OF POWERS

VOICE OVER (REPORTER)

Relationships between humans and these reality

superheroes started off innocently, when Claire

Bennet revealed her ability to heal instantly at

a cellular level to the rest of the world six

months ago.

-- Hiro concentrates, and the clocks second hand goes back

one second.

VOICE OVER (REPORTER)Of course there was opposition to continuing to

allow these people to live amongst us. These

voices were immediately silenced as the world

stood in awe at the astonishing power of

evolution.

-- During Peter and Nathans argument, Peter steps forward

while yelling at Nathan, and levitates.


Since then however, terrorist groups have been

coming together at alarming rates, penetratingthe homes of people like Claire, innocent and

harmless, and assaulting them, or worse.

-- DL walks through the wall of Nikis cell.

In the past six months, 57 reported fatalities of

super-evolved humans have been reported.

-- Claire closes the cuts on her chest made by the

autopsist while lying on the autopsy table, to keep her

ribs from being exposed.


Unfortunately, many retaliations have also been

reported. Many of these powers are incredibly

dangerous and volatile.

-- Elle shoots a bolt of lightning at West flying away, and

he falls out of the sky.


And some are beginning to question whether or not

the super-evolved heroes really deserve our

trust or, the governments support if it means anincrease in taxes.

-- Sylar uses telekinesis to saw open the heads of Charlie,

Ted Sprague, Claire, Elle, and Nathan.

BACK TO SCENE

ANGELA picks up a phone and dials a number while continuing

to stare intently at the television screen.

FEMALE NEWS REPORTER

This is JAIMIE GALE on Channel 5 News signing off.

ANGELA

Everything weve feared is coming to fruition

its only a matter of time until another Building

26 comes along to round all of us up again. They

need us. We have to revive the company.

INT. OFFICE DAY

NOAH holds his phone to his ear, listening to ANGELA.

NOAH

(smiles smugly)

Im in.

EXT. BUSY CITY STREET DAY

SUPER: 2 MONTHS LATER

TRACY STRAUSS walks briskly down the street, trying to

avoid bumping into other people. She opens the door to a

coffee shop. She hears crying from the alley nearby.

TRACY

(nervously)

Hey, are you alright?

WOMAN IN ALLEY

(crying)

Yes, Im fine, please dont worry, just go away

TRACY runs into the alley and sees a woman crouched with

her face in her hands crying. TRACY kneels down in front of

the woman.

TRACY

(reassuring)

Its okay now, youre fine. What happened?

(puts her hand on her shoulder) You dont have to

be alone.

WOMAN

(faces Tracy and smiles)

Thank you, but really Ill be okay. (stands up)

See? Im fine, just a little shaken up is all.

I had some (thoughtful pause) boy trouble last

night. I guess I just lost it

TRACY

Well, Ive got the time if you want to talk.

(grimaces) The last time I had guy trouble (long

pause) things werent as (angry, hurt) diplomaticas I would have liked

FLASHBACK TRACYS CELL

TRACY sits underneath the heat lamp sweating in her cell in

Building 26. NATHAN walks in, and TRACY glares at him.

NATHAN promptly walks out.

(livid)

Youre one of us, Nathan. Youre one of us!

BACK TO PRESENT

WOMAN

(smiles) Oh, no Im talking about my son. Were

having a kind of setback. But thank you so much

for helping me out. I wish there were others like

you.

TRACY

I used to feel alone, but now I realize how many

others there are like me. (beat) Im sorry I

havent even introduced myself. (holds out handto shake) My name is Tracy, Tracy Strauss.

WOMAN

(shakes Tracys hand) Jaimie. Now please, I dont

want to take up anymore of your time. Maybe well

run into each other again, hopefully with better

circumstances.

TRACY

(optimistic)

I look forward to that day. I hope you workeverything out with your son.

WOMAN/JAIMIE

(off key, darker tone) Oh, Ill make things work.

(back to normal) At any rate, thank you yet again

Tracy Strauss, (smiles) my unofficial therapist.

Take care.

JAIMIE walks out of the alleyway shaking off her nerves and

anxiety. TRACY stands watching her smiling. She turns

around and NOAH is behind her.

NOAH

(smiles)

Hello Tracy, its been too long.

INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY

NOAH

It feels good, doesnt it? Helping people.

TRACY

(grimly)

If theres one thing Ive learned from my life of

craziness, its that nothing good comes from you

showing up from no where.

NOAH

(smiles)

And if theres one thing Ive learned from

knowing you, its that Tracy Strauss serves

her own needs before those of others.

TRACY

(frowns)

Im not that person anymore. I dont want to be

just another politician who doesnt care.

(laughs)And if I recall, I saved your life about8 months ago! I wouldnt call that self serving.

NOAH

I remember. I got the message that I owe you one,

which is why Im here. I know you want to make a

difference Tracy, so Im giving you the

opportunity.

TRACY

(dryly)

A job opportunity in this economy! Noah youshould run for office.

NOAH

(completely serious)

Angela and I have started the Company again, with

a new focus. On the people behind the powers.

Were making sure theyre safe from the media and

the prejudice from the rest of the world if they

dont want the exposure. Its the chance youve

been looking for Tracy.

Tracy sits uncomfortably, watching the news on the

television screen. A building is burning down and

the title reads 3 Super Babies Die in Accident.

TRACY

Ill do it. We have to help the people like me,

the people like Peter and Claire and Matt.

(confident) They need me.

NOAH

Im glad you made the right choice.

TRACY

Im glad we can sit here and talk to each othergood terms. I mean, the last time we sat in a

place like this together I was scheming ways to

kill you.

NOAH

(emotional, comforting)

Funny how people can change (bright smile).

NOAH holds TRACYS hand and nods. TRACY laughs and looks

down, blushing.

END OF SCENE

INT. MERCY HEIGHTS HOSPITAL DAY

ANGELA walks to the front desk where EMMA is sitting with

her headphones in her ears. She types on the computer in

front of her. Nurses and doctors hustle all around her, a

great deal of noise is being made.

Camera switches to EMMAS perspective at the desk. All the

noise has ceased and brightly colored lights are shining inthe air. EMMAS enhanced synthesia causes these effects.

She notices ANGELA standing in front of the desk.

EMMA

(professionally)

Hello Mrs. Petrelli, I take it youre here for

Peter? I can have him out in a moment, he should

be on break.

ANGELA

(hastily)

Peter wont be on break. He comes from a family

of work-a-holics, and Peter is certainly no

exception. Im here to see you, Emma.

EMMA

(surprised)

Ohwell what can I do for you Mrs. Petrelli? I

dont really understand.

ANGELA

(calming, persuasive tone)

Emma, we are so very much alike, and Im so happy

you and Peter have grown so close over the past

year. We both can do amazing things, we both caredeeply for Peter, we both care deeply for those

like us. (pause) And please call me Angela!

EMMA

(pauses, confused)

Ive enjoyed getting to know you toobut honestly

we arent very well acquainted. What is all this

about Mrs.-(awkward pause) Angela.

ANGELA

(confident and informative)Two months ago I started a Company. I want to

help the world (whispers) fix it. Starting with

the heroes as my son is so fond of calling us.

I would like you to work as an agent for it Emma,

you have a very helpful ability. Not to mention I

would like to become better acquainted with you,

as you say.

EMMA

(long pause)

I need some time to thinkI would like to help

ANGELA

But?

EMMA

(apologetic)

But I dont want to feel used. The last time I

let someone convince me to help them, they used

me for my ability. I trust you Angela, I really

do, I just need some time to work through this.

Im sorry.

ANGELA

(uncomfortable smile)

I didnt expect you to make up your mind right

now. Ill stop by the hospital again soon to hear

your decision. Please dont feel forced into

anything Emma. I just thought you would want to

help people you can relate to

ANGELA gives EMMA a Primatech card and turns around. She

walks away out the door, just as PETER runs through with a

severely injured man on a stretcher.

A doctor runs over to PETER and assists wheeling thestretcher.

DOCTOR

(drastically)

Whats his status?

PETER

A car exploded three blocks away from our unit

while we were driving back to the hospital. He

was in the car and appears to have second degree

burns on his face and arms, he says he has noidea how the car exploded.

DOCTOR

We got him, you can go now.

PETER continues to follow the doctor into the emergency

room, until the doctor finally pulls him aside.

DOCTOR

He is going to be fine, thanks to you. Please

Peter, get some rest. Take some time off. Youcannot work yourself this hard. Youre bound to

make a mistake sooner or later, and we cant

afford that in a hospital environment.

PETER nods and walks back toward his mother and EMMA.

ANGELA

Peter (thoughtful pause), I have a suspicion as

to who blew up that car.

EMMA

Someone blew up a car? Is that what the doctors

said? Im sorry, I couldnt see their lips

PETER

(quiet, reserved)

I wasnt fast enough. If he dies its my fault.

ANGELA

(dramatic)

None of this is your fault Peter. I had a dream

about this, a week ago. I didnt think it could

interpreted so literally but

PETER

Mom, what are you saying?

ANGELA

Someone with powers did this Peter. They did it

as a form of retaliation against the people who

have done our kind so much harm.

EMMA

But (nervous pause) do you know who did this to

that man?

ANGELA

(surprised)

I do Emma. The woman who did this (dramatic

pause) is Tracy Strauss.

INT. CLASSROOM DAY

ANDREW GALE sits in chemistry class with his head on his

desk, distracted from his lesson. She gets a match out of a

book of matches.

TEACHER

(drone and boring tone)

When a fire burns it uses oxygen in the air as a

sort of fuel to keep it going.

ANDREW moves his arm slightly and a gust of wind blows out

the match. The teacher lights another match. ANDREW flicks

his wrist forward and the match flies out of the teachers

hand and it singes the teachers eyebrow off. The students

snicker.

ANDREW(sighs)

Shes right, I am alone

INT. ANDREWS HOUSE NIGHT FLASHBACK

Andrew and his mother argue about something.

JAIMIE

(furious)

I cant believe my own son is one of them. How

can you be like them?

ANDREW

(on the verge of tears)

And I cant believe your angry at me for

something your own DNA attributed to! I cant

deny who I am! Theres others like me!

JAIMIE

They are not like you, they are dangerous

barbarians! If you want to try and fit in with

them fine, but you will not live under my roof inthe meantime! My entire career is made around

subliminally degrading people like you, and if

your ignorant enough to think Im going to let a

mistake like you ruin my chance at fame (chilling

whisper) think again.

BACK TO PRESENT

ANDREW

(almost entranced)

Theres only one thing for me to do

Andrew stands up and goes to the window. He opens it up

slowly and stares at the ground, concentrating deeply.

Winds begin to bellow up to the third floor window and

swirl around his body, making him feel weightless.

TEACHER

Andrew! Please close the window a little, it

makes me nervous when its open so wide since

there isnt a screen there.

ANDREW

(whisper)

This is what Im meant to do. The world has to

know about me! I dont want to be alone anymore.

GUIDANCE COUNSELER (TRACY)

Excuse me, sorry to interrupt your class Ms.

Mitchum, but I have an appointment scheduled for

Andrew Gale and I forgot to send you a pass for

him. Do you mind if I steal him for a minute?

(she smiles)

ANDREW

(turns around slowly and frowns)

Right here. Im all yours I guess.

TRACY

Great, follow me.

TRACY leads ANDREW down the hallway, opposite the hall with

the guidance offices. ANDREW makes a worried glance at

TRACY.

ANDREW

(suspicious)

Are you even a guidance counselor? Youre goingthe wrong way

TRACY

Okay, so I lied a little. Just to get you out of

class. (whispers as they pass classrooms) This is

about your power, to control the air.

ANDREW comes to a complete halt and snatches his hand away

from TRACY in disbelief.

ANDREW

(shocked)

How can you know about that? Did my mom come to

you? Are you some kind of shrink for the crazies?

This was such a mistake, leave me alone!

TRACY touches a locker door they are standing in front of

and touches it. Her hand turns blue and the door begins to

freeze. ANDREW touches it in shock.

TRACY

(persuasive, informative)

Im part of a Company whose workers are people

like you and me. Im here to help. I can help you

master your powers, until you decide what to dowith them.

ANDREW

(sarcastic)

Okay, you just said like twenty really crazy,

bizarre things that I dont really want to get

into. (exhausted) Im tired of hiding, of

mastering my powers when no one really

understands me. I want to show everyone what I

can do now!

TRACY

(pleading)

Believe me, that is not what you want to do. Just

give me a chance to explain everything to you.

All you have to do is come with me to the Company

and from there its up to you.

ANDREW turns from TRACY and crosses his arms, he gazes off

into the distance, and sees other students sitting in

class. He turns back to TRACY.

ANDREW

(confidently)

Ill go. Just, lets not get my mom involved. She

wouldnt be very (emotional pause) understanding.

TRACY smiles at ANDREW and leads him down the hallway to

the exit.

INT. MATTS OFFICE DAY

The phone on his desk rings, MATT picks it up and answers

it.

INTERCUT TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

MATT

L.A.P.D., this is Detective Parkman.

NOAH

Hello Matt. Hows the desk youre sitting at

treating you?

MATT

Everytime you talk to me you either want me to

brainwash someone or do something reallyweird.

Id like to keep away from that, and you.

NOAH

(amused)

Well, thats the second time someone has said

something like that to me. Its starting to hurt

my feelings Parkman. (smiles)

MATT

Yeah well, the last time you asked me for a favor

I had to push a dead guys thoughts into a serial

killer. I can only imagine what kind of recipefor disaster Im an ingredient for this time.

NOAH

Well Matt, I just called you with a simple

suggestion. No favors involved. Id like you to

join the new Company Angela and I have restarted.

We can protect you and your family from the rest

of the world if you help others like you. Its a

fair deal, really.

MATTIf you havent noticed I have a steady job, what

would make me leave it?

NOAH

(sarcastic)

Sitting at that desk answering phone calls sure

is a fulfilling career, huh? I was thinking youd

enjoy a job a little more exciting. I was an

office drone for a while too, before I got a call

not unlike this one from Angela.

MATT

What made you say yes so quickly?

NOAH

Sitting in a cubicle didnt take. I like thinking

outside the box.

MATT

(pause)

How did you know where I was anyway?

NOAH

With the assistance of a little girl who knows

exactly where people are just by concentrating.She chose to help us Matt, and so should you.

Molly misses you.

MATT

(excited)

Mollys with you! Can I talk with her?

NOAH

Come to Primatech and you can see her all you

like. You can have the family youve always

wanted here in D.C.

MATT

Ill go. But onlyto visit Molly, and then Im

coming right home. Where can I find you.

NOAH

(creepy smile)

Ill fax you our information.

BACK TO SCENE

MATT hangs up the phone and smiles. He looks at a picture

of his wife and son on his desk for a moment, and then

returns to work.

INT. ANGELAS OFFICE AT PRIMATECH DAY

ANGELA flips through ANDREW GALES paperwork, information

about his life and instances his ability were observed.

TRACY and ANDREW walk into the room

ANGELA

(emotionless)

Hello, Tracy. Was there any trouble? Did you come

across any distractions along the way to Andrew?

TRACY

(confused)

None at all. Should there have been?

ANGELA

Any traffic? Any cars you felt you needed to get

out of your way? (serious pause, remembering thepatient at the hospital)

TRACY

(defensive)

Angela, what is this about?

ANGELA

Dont worry yourself Tracy, just leave me with

Andrew for now. I have much to discuss with him.

(smiles in Andrews direction)

TRACY gives ANDREW an encouraging nod and backs away. She

opens the door and walks out of the office into the

Primatech hallway.

ANDREW

(uncomfortable)

(awkward pause) Hello. Im Andrew, nice to-

ANGELA

That woman killed a man on her way to pick you up

do not trust what she says about this Company.

ANDREW

(shocked)

I was in a car with a murderer? What kind of

people do you hire at this place? You clearly

need some heavy duty job screening.

ANGELA

Has she said anything to convince you not to come

here? Or has she said or done anything strange?

ANDREW

Besides freezing a locker door? Nothing. Shes

only said good things about the Company.

ANGELA

(confused)

That doesnt make any sense. I thought she killed

a normal man as a sign of things to come. To

oppose Primatech and cause the first causality of

a war between humans and ourselves.

ANDREW

And you base this assumption off of?

ANGELA

A dream.

ANDREW

Well, Dr. King, I once had a dream about talking

fruit. It didnt happen the next week. Or ever.

ANGELA

And my son once had dreams of flying.

ANDREW(sarcastically)

Oh yeah? Hows that working out for him?

ANGELA

Flying is a daily activity for him now. Besides

my dreams are different from yours. I can dream

the future. Its the reason you and I are so

alike, why I am special.

ANDREW

(apologetic)Well, this is kinda awkward. (pause) Im sorry.

ANGELA

(smiling)

I miss comments like that. Nathan was full of

them. (emotional silence) Excuse me. Now

lets get down to business.

INT. PRIMATECH HALLWAY DAY

TRACY walks calmly down the hallway and turns a corner. A

woman who looks identical to TRACY stands just around the

corner.

TRACY

(disbelief)

Oh my god! (weird look) I really have to stop

drinking before noon

TRACY swats at the air in front of her, expecting the woman

in front of her to be some sort of hallucination. She hits

the woman in the shoulder.

TRACY CLONE

(amused)

And here I was thinking Niki was theviolent one.

TRACY

(astounded)

What the hell are you saying! How do you know

Niki? Shes dead

BARBARA

Nice to meet you, Tracy. I believe youve heard a

little bit about me from Dr. Zimmerman.

TRACY

Youre Barbara! So then-

BARBARA

Yes Tracy. Im your sister.

CUT TO COMMERCIAL

TRACY stares at BARBARA looking absolutely shocked.

BARBARA(grim)

Really Tracy, its impolite to stare. You would

know that if those doctors hadnt separated us.

TRACY

(gaining confidence)

Barbara, how did you even find me?

BARBARA

Our nephew Micah is a boy genius, remember?

TRACY

So Micah told you I was in D.C.?

BARBARA

Well honestly Tracy, youre a political advisor

of Governor Malden, it was fairly obvious youd

be in D.C.

TRACY

Former political advisor. Im with the Company

now, somewhere I can actually do something to

help, not make up lies.

BARBARAThats part of the reason why Im here. I want

you to help my cause.

TRACY

(skeptical)

Barbara, I hardly know you. I didnt even know

if you were alive until today.

BARBARA

I know, and Im sorry. But this is really

important. I need you to help me fight.

TRACY

(suspicious)

Okay, define fight.

BARBARA

(emotional)

More of us are being killed everyday Tracy. It

cant keep going like this.

TRACYThats why I joined the Company, they can protect

everyone with powers.

BARBARA

You cant stop them, you cant save all of them.

You need to use your political position to make

some sort of protection for people like us. Fight

them with politics, or I will fight them with

force. A war is coming Tracy.

TRACY

A war? What does that even mean?

BARBARA

(eerie smile)

A war against us, and them. Today was their first

casualty. James Yegovichs car exploded today.

His windshield shattered at the same time as his

ability to speak out against us.

TRACY

You killed a man? He has never harmed us Barbara!

Hes just afraid of what he doesnt understand.

BARBARAHis speeches were inspiring to the people who

would harm us. People will continue to die if you

dont help me Tracy. Get back to me by tomorrow

night. Make the right choice

BARBARA turns on her heel and walks right through a wall

and out of Primatech. Tracy freezes the wall, attempting to

trap BARBARA, but the wall suddenly bursts into flames.

TRACY puts it out by dousing it with water.

INT. ANGELAS OFFICE SEVERAL MINUTES LATER

TRACY explains the events in the hallway to ANGELA and

ANDREW.

ANGELA

(quietly)

So Barbara was in my dream, not you Tracy. I

suppose I owe you an apology, unfortunately it

isnt the first time Ive misinterpreted a dream.

TRACYI had no idea what you were talking about Angela,

so dont bother. What Barbara said worries me

though. I dont doubt her ability to kill at all,

unfortunately it seems to be in our genes.

ANDREW

(amused)

So, let me get this straight. You, Niki, and

Barbara are estranged triplet sisters who were

experimented on as babies and given powers? That

honestly makes me feel better about my mom.

TRACY

Angela, what do I do?

ANGELA

If shes anything like you and Niki, shes

being overdramatic. When it comes down to it you

are all good people. Dedicate your time to

Primatech Tracy. You have work to do (smiles).

TRACY looks at ANDREW and nods. She opens the door and

gestures for ANDREW to follow her.

TRACY

We have work to do Andrew.

END OF SCENE

EXT. CITY STREET NIGHT

EMMA and PETER are walking home together. PETER looks

depressed about the injured man from earlier. EMMA puts her

hand on his shoulder and stops walking.

EMMA

(supportive)

Peter, please stop blaming yourself. You did

everything you could to help him.

PETER

(quiet, reserved)

I know (beat) thank you Emma. Thats not what

bothers me.

EMMA

Then I dont really understand Peter.

PETER

If Tracy really did this to that man, shes not

the person she used to be. Tracy was always a

manipulative liar, but not a killer. Not that I

knew about.

EMMA

But you barely know her Peter

PETER

If one person can change that much, we all can. I

can. Terrible experiences shape us into shadows

of what we used to be. When I saw myself in the

future, I was different, hopeless. Worst of all I

was compassionless. Emma I dont want to become

that, but Im afraid theres no changing the

future.

EMMA

We stopped Samuel, despite your mothers dreams.

His plans never came to fruition, we changed thefuture Peter! You dont have to end up like that.

PETER

Thats just it. Everytime we save the world

something else comes along threatening to destroy

it. Everytime my hope returns, someone steals it

away from me. We cant avoid fate forever.

EMMA

Peter, how long have you been thinking about

this? No wonder youre so depressed!

PETER

The world changed the second Claire jumped from

the ferris wheel in front of the media. Its been

eating away at me. Im losing the one thing Ive

always been capable of (emotional pause) empathy.

EMMA embraces PETER across from a guitar player strumming

chords on the other side of the street. PETERS hand glows

while touching EMMAS hand, he borrowed her power.

EMMA

See? Your empathy isnt as out of tune as you

think it is. (smiles)

PETER brushes the hair out of EMMAS face.

Emma, I (long pause) thank you.

EMMA stares into PETERS eyes for a long time smiling. Then

she kisses him slowly, bright colors can be seen flowing

through the air because of EMMAS power PETER has absorbed.

EMMA

(awkward)

Do you (beat) want to go to dinner sometime?

PETER

(thoughtful pause)

Emma, I (beat) I cant. Ive never been very good

with relationships.

EMMA

(embarrassed)Oh, I didnt mean that

PETER

Emma, its okay. Its just (emotional) my first

serious relationship ended with a gunshot and

tears. And the last time I had a serious

girlfriend (beat) she kinda got, stuck in the

future. I dont want that kind of thing happening

to you too.

EMMA(dodgy)

Your mother wants me to help her. To work as some

sort of agent for a Company she made. Does that

mean anything to you?

PETER completely stops walking and stands in shock. He

pulls out his cell phone.

PETER

Emma, dont do anything until I know what this is

all about. My mother is keeping secrets again.(thoughtful pause) Maybe people really dont

change (smiles at Emma).

EMMA

(smiling)

Ill call you later.

INT. YAMAGATO INDUSTRY BUILDING, TOKYO DAY

HIRO

Yatta!

ANDO

(in Japanese, with subtitles)

(laughing) Yes Hiro, weve been hearing about your

triumph for about a year now. Thank goodness

you brought Kimiko and I together.

HIRO

(same)

I changed destiny, so that yours and Kimikos

lives became intertwined. We healed my brain

tumor, and we defeated Evil Butterfly Man!

ANDO

(same)

Hiro! I know!

SECRETARY

(same)

Mr. Nakamura, phone call on line 3.

ANDO

(same)Who is it from? Did they say?

SECRETARY

(same)

He said he is a representative of a Company in

America, and that he needed to speak with you

about their line of work.

Hiro picks up the phone and looks at a Japanese to English

translator briefly.

HIRO

Well, Im upset its come to this too, but shes

left me no choice. Its clear Tracy thinks

Angelas Company is the solution. Unfortunately

that means I need to give her an ultimatum. This

is it.

BARBARA turns and a bolt of lightning shines light in the

room. From across the room the viewer can see NATHAN

standing, listening to BARBARA speak.

NATHAN

There are other ways to go about this, Barbara.

Ive told you, politics are the answer. Please,

find another way. No one has to die.

BARBARA

Yes, Nathan, they do. I know that now. Fear is

the only force that will truly stop them from

hurting us. If Tracy doesnt help me, they die.

Starting with him.

BARBARA gestures toward an unconscious ANDREW who is lying

on the floor in the corner of the room.

NATHAN

This wont solve anything Barbara, it will justmake them angrier.

BARBARA

INT. ANGELAS LIVING ROOM NIGHT

ANGELA wakes up gasping and reaches for her phone on the

table next to her bed. She sees missed calls from PETER,

but ignores them to dial TRACYS number.

INTERCUT TELEPHONE CONVERSTAION

TRACY

(professionally)

This is Tracy Strauss.

ANGELA(in distress)

Tracy, thank God. Please tell me Andrew is with

you, hes safe right?

TRACY

Angela, hes fine! I just dropped him off at his

house, what is with you?

ANGELA

Get over to his house, as soon as you can or-

TRACY

(yelling)

Angela, Im not going anywhere until you explain

what the hell is going on to me!

ANGELA

Tracy, go. NOW! Ill explain when, and if, Andrew

ANGELA promptly hangs up the phone, looks calm for a minute

and begins crying.

ANGELA

(whispers)

Nathan (hurt pause). How is she doing this?

ANGELA takes a moment to regain her composure before

INTERCUT TELPHONE CONVERSATION

NOAH

Hello Angela.

ANGELA

Noah, I need you here now. The Barbara situation

has escalated.

NOAH

(serious)

Angela, tell me what happened.

ANGELA

Barbara has threatened Andrews life. And(emotional pause) she somehow found Alice. My

sister is working with the enemy.

NOAH

Well, what can I do?

ANGELA

Peter is angry at me, I can tell from my dream.

Please go to him, get him to come to Pinehearst.

I need love from at least one family member. The

rest are either dead or trying to make me deadtoo.

NOAH

(upset)

I understand, but why not go to Peter yourself

and explain everything to him?

BACK TO SCENE

A roll of thunder claps in the distance and ANGELA sits on

her bed looking terrified. A single tear falls down her

cheek, thinking of her sister.

END OF SCENE

EXT. TRACYS CAR NIGHT

TRACY parks in front of ANDREWS house and watches the

house for a moment, the lights are all off and she looks at

the clock. It says 11:30.

TRACY

(worried)

This isnt right. No teenager goes to bed at

11:30 on a Friday night.

She opens the car door and runs to the front porch of

Andrews house. The door is locked and no one appears to behome. TRACY desperately attempts to open the door, and then

remains calm.

TRACY concentrates, and dissolves into water. She moves

under the door and materializes on the other side, inside

ANDREWS house.

Andrew, please tell me youre here!

She runs into the kitchen and sees a note on the

refrigerator. TRACY reads it quickly and starts crying.

TRACY

Oh God, not Andrew too. (long emotional pause)

TRACY

(determined, aside)

I wasnt strong enough to save Jeremy, but its

different now. You want a response to your

ultimatum Barbara? Just wait, youre gonna get

one hell of an answer

END OF SCENE - COMMERCIAL

PETER stands in his apartment, painting on a canvas. He

looks hopeful, yet defeated all at once. He hears a knock

at the door and walks over to answer it.

NOAH

(desperate)

Peter, I really need you to come with me to

Pinehearst. Your mother needs you.

PETER(exhausted)

Why didnt she come to me to begin with? Why

didnt she tell me about the new Company you

both decided to create.

NOAH

Peter, I dont know but this must be important.

She sounded really shaken up, and she told me

shes afraid of losing her relationship with you

again. Just, please Peter. Let her explain.

PETER

Why did you call it Pinehearst?

NOAH

of anything better. (laughs)

PETER remains silent, and gestures toward the canvas he had

previously been painting on.

PETER

You know why Ive been painting Noah?

NOAH

No Peter I dont, but seriously we need to leave

and get back to Angela

PETER

(ignoring NOAH)

I paint now, everynight, hoping one of the

paintings will come true. Hoping remembering

Isaac will let me get his power back. I miss

being able to connect with people like I used to.

NOAH

Peter, if thats what this is all about please

stop there. I have never met a man more

compassionate in my life. Youre an EMT Peter,

you save peoples lives for a living.

PETER

with a confused look on her face.

MATT

Janice, I got a call from Bennet, you know the

guy I told you about?

JANICE

Yes Matt, I do. I hope you plan on explainingbecause Im hoping your not rushing out to push

a dead persons thoughts into a serial killers

MATT

TRACY walks through a dark, creepy hallway. She puts her

ear to a steel door can hear noise on the other side of the

otherwise deserted building. TRACY freezes the door and

shatters it, standing before BARBARA and ALICE.

BARBARA

Well, that was quite an entrance Tracy. Lets

hope you have good news. If you want to see your

little pupil Andrew live that is.

TRACY

You are so pathetic.

BARBARASee, thats not quite the answer Id like to

hear. Tracy, please be sensible. Why support the

Company when you can just get Governor Malden to

end all of this nonsense?

TRACY

(with emotion)

If there had been a Company around to help me

when I discovered my powers, there would be seven

people I have killed by accident or by poor

circumstance alive today. The government cantteach people that, only we can.

BARBARA

I know all about those people. Six of them were

regular humans. Tracy (unsettling pause) theyre

completely expendable.

ALICE

(irate)

They deserve death all of them! They killed the

only people who ever mattered to me! My family.

TRACY

Angela is alive!

ALICE

She betrayed me. (creepy laughter) Shes going

to regret that more than she already does.

BARBARA

TRACY looks nervously back at BARBARA, and for the first

time appears genuinely afraid of her.

NOAH assists PETER through the Company building to ANGELAS

office so that they can speak together.

NOAH

Peter, just know before youre going in, I think

Angela had a dream. When she called me she was

Okay, thanks for the heads up Noah. The last time

my mother got all freaked over a dream, we spent

the next day digging bodies up from their shallow

graves in the desert.

NOAH

You mean at Coyote Sands. I really hope Angela

doesnt have a surprise that big for us.

NOAH and PETER enter ANGELAS office, she immediately

stands up from her chair.

ANGELA

Where is Tracy! Something has gone wrong, my

dream has to be true.

PETERSlow down, mom. Whats happening? Start from the

very beginning.

ANGELA

There isnt time! Tracy is at a building

somewhere with Barbara and Andrew and-

PETER

(annoyed)

I am trying hard to connect with you mom, but

you still dont care about me enough to justlisten for once so Im just gonna say it. This

company is bad news. What have you done, ma?

ANGELA

(blurts)

I made the Company solely for the training and

protection of people with powers. Right now Tracy

is about to fight for her life against her evil

sister Barbara, because a boy she has been

teaching is in serious danger, and my mentally

insane sister is helping Barbara hurt Andrew and-

Well. Thats quite a predicament. What can we

think about doing? How can we act?

PETER

Im sorry mom, we cant. We dont even know where

NOAH, PETER, and ANGELA sit in awkward silence for some

going to have to wait and see what happens. And

PETER

PETER and ANGELA smile at each other and PETER comforts her

NOAH

Im glad you two are reconnected.

The camera is zoomed in on TRACYS hand, which suddenly

turns blue and cold air can be seen flowing off of it.

TRACY

I always wanted a sister, all my life. God

insulted me by bringing you into the picture.

BARBARA

Sorry to disappoint Ice Queen. Isnt that what

they call you, Tracy? Remind me again how you areany more righteous than I am.

TRACY

I am not that person anymore!

TRACYS hand stops freezing the air around it, and water

begins trickling from it. She sprays water at ANDREW in the

corner of the room to revive him.

TRACY

Andrew, move! Take out psycho over there!

ALICE

(signature laugh)

Wouldnt wanna upset Mother Nature, would you

boy? Youre new at this wind stuff, and I dont

like the competition.

BARBARA

(smiles)

Take it outside. My sister and I have some

business arrangements to take care of.

A bolt of lightning shatters the window and a gust of wind

sweeps through the room. Papers fly everywhere, and ANDREW

and ALICE fly out on the gust of wind.

TRACY

My heart is warmer. I am not the shallow Ice

BARBARA

Ah, sophisticated enough for Sophocles? And I

thought you were more interested in fighting than

in literature.

TRACY

(laughs)

TRACY begins shooting sharp icicles at BARBARA, attemptingto impale her. BARBARA raises her arms up and shoots the

icicles with a blast of fire, and smiles smugly at TRACY.

TRACY

So, what exactly is your power anyways?

BARBARA

(confident)

Depends on my mood.

BARBARA puts her hands together and throws a compact ballof fire at TRACY, who temporarily turns to water.

TRACY

Neat trick, huh?

TRACY hurls another icicle, much larger, directly at

BARBARAS chest. The icicle phases straight through her

body.

BARBARA

Oh definitely, its one of my favorites (smugly

smiles).

EXT. AIR AROUND BARBARAS BUILDING NIGHT

ANDREW and ALICE fly around each other, rushing at each

other and bumping into one another. The rain seems to

intensify, and a bolt of lightning shoots at ANDREW. He

dodges, but barely. Blue and orange flashes can be seen

inside the building.

ALICE

Quit fighting me! I can do everything you can,

and more! You have nothing to fight for, in the

end we all are alone.

ANDREW

I remember when I was nave as you. But if shes

taught me nothing else, Tracy has taught me that

I am not alone, none of us are alone. I realize

now that my powers dont seclude me. They connect

me to so many people. I wish you could see that.

ALICE

(yells)

Theyll betray you, they all will! Just like the

one person who ever mattered to me did! (hurt

pause) My own sister.

ANDREW

Im sorry.

ALICEShell get whats coming to her.

ANDREW

God has nothing to do with it. Doctors gave us

our powers. No one, not even God knows what I amcapable of.

TRACY

Great. So you mind if I ask you, what the hell is

BARBARA

TRACY

Youre saying you talk to dead people?

And use their powers (mournful pause) if they had

any. Its only a matter if time before I collect

TRACY

the building they were at before. ANGELA remains quiet for

some time.

ANGELA

Maybe I really do deserve this.

ANDREW

What did you even do to her to make her despise

you so much? She was incredibly vague. Kinda like

trying to get Obama to tell us what hes going to

do in his term.

ANGELA

(dodgy)

I made a very bad mistake a very long time ago

Alice suffered the consequences. And as much as I

enjoy your obscene references to society lets

try and discuss effectively, please.

TRACY

She was powerful. She said she could talk to the

dead, and use their powers. Have you ever met

anyone who could do that?

PETER

So that explains Nathan in your dream mom

ANGELA

Yes it does Peter. Im afraid Ive never come

across anyone with this ability. Talking to dead

people I can handle, anyone with a multitude of

powers need to be taken very seriously.

We only know of three. Barbara, Sylar and

And me. We got that one. And considering Sylar

has been missing for the past three months who

knows what hes been doing in his spare time.

At any rate, I think we should all be extremely

careful in the months to come. Barbara seems

extremely unstable, and hanging out with an

alienated mentally ill woman probably doesnt

help (glancing at Angela) no offense.

PETER

Are you alright Mom? I know how it feels to be so

distant from a sibling. Nathan and me had some

rough patches, but in the end it worked out.

TRACY

But, on the other hand you could have a crazy

killer on your hands who wants to see you

suffer for no adequately explained reason.

PETER shoots TRACY a menacing glance and holds his mothershand, reassuring her.

TRACY

Sorry, todays just been a little bit crazy. I

need to get home.

Someone knocks on the office door and EMMA walks in, with

the Pinehearst card ANGELA gave her in her hand.

EMMA

Oh, I hope Im not interrupting.

PETER

Dont worry, we were just finishing up.

EMMA

(cautious)

I came here to tell you that I dont think the

Company is a fit for me Angela. I finally have a

chance at going back to medical school and I

really want to do this. Maybe someday fate will

bring us together.

ANGELA

(weak smile)

As do I Emma. Just know youre always welcome to

EMMA smiles and PETER opens the door for her. The two

leave, and TRACY and ANDREW follow.

know what kind of trouble its had before, but I

just want you to know how much its helped me.

ANGELA

(glowing smile)

Thank you Andrew, Im glad someone has something

good to say about my Company, even if it did take

this long for it to happen.

ANDREW and TRACY leave, and a second later there is an

audible popping noise. HIRO has teleported into ANGELAS

Hiro!

ANGELA

My office isnt an office anymore! Its a

convention room.

HIRO

I could not wait for plane. I havesmall problem

back in Tokyo.

NOAH

What can I do you for Hiro?

HIRO

Ando is getting married to my sister Kimiko

tomorrow, can I go!

ANGELA

Hiro, were not forcing you to come here. You can

come the day after if youd like. Tomorrow was a

mere suggestion.

Ugh! It took me three hours to figure out what to

do! Ando would never forgive me if I missed his

HIRO closes his eyes and a moment later he disappears.

prime example.

ANGELA

(smiling)

Thank you Noah. Lets go home and sleep. The

future looks grim, and we need to rest and

prepare for it as best we can.

NOAH exits wishing ANGELA a good night and ANGELA stays at

her desk for a moment. A picture of ANGELA, BOB BISHOP,

CHARLES DEVEAUX, and LINDERMAN as young adults sits on her

desk. ANGELA flips it over.

ANGELA

Im going to change our Company into something

better while I still can. The world knows about

us now, old friends. We have nothing to lose.

ANGELA flips off the switch to the lamp on her desk and theroom remains black.

MATT sits in his car tearing through maps. He seems

completely and utterly lost. He picks up his phone and

BACK TO SCENE

MATT sits in the car looking angry and he rips the map up

in anguish, but his angry soon transitions into sadness.

MATTMolly, please be okay

His car starts and MATT pulls onto the road and drives past

a building. BARBARA can be seen outside.

END OF SCENE

EXT. OUTSIDE GOVERNMENT BUILDING DAY

BARBARA stands outside a building reading a paper. Camera

zooms into what shes reading and shows a picture ofGovernor Malden and the address of his office. Camera pans

out to show the buildings address which matches.

BARBARA

Tracy says she doesnt want to help me. Even when

I threatened peoples lives. I guess the first to

die are her beloved politician friends.

A woman stands next to BARBARA, and the camera moves over

to fit her into the shot.

ELLE

Is that why you came to the sociopath for advice?

Cuz I can help you do what no one else wants to?

BARBARA

(smiles)

well, burn.

ELLE

Well, then lets light this place up.

BARBARA and ELLE walk forward, ELLES hands light up with

electricity and she jolts the fuse box attached to the

building. The camera focuses back where BARBARA and ELLE

were, but ELLE is gone and BARBARA stands with electricity

shooting out of herhands.

BARBARA and ELLE run into the building, and the camera

stays outside, not following them. Screams can be heard

from inside, and flashes of light can be seen from outside.

ELLE screams with delight.

VOICE OVER (BARBARA)

This war has begun. And its first major

casualties have just been made.
