CHARLEMAGNE

The Order of the Crown of Charlemagne is an international society which accepts persons who can provide a generation-by-generayion descent from the Emperor Charlemagne. Karl der Grosse (Charlemagne) lived 747 – 814. By inheritance, he became King of the Franks in 768. His armies conquered most of modern-day Germany, northern Italy, and added what is now Southern France to his Frankish domains. He was crowned Emperor in 800 at Rome. He was truly the Emperor of the West. George Pohl has made two concerted attempts to join the Order, but was rejected both times. The rules for application state that a rejected application be accompanied by a description of the fault(s) detected by the Registrar-General. No documentation was ever received.
