I would be a(n) (your animal) because ______. If I were a(n) (your animal) I would ______ because_____. For a big challenge write your sentences, be sure to use capitalization, good spacing and punctuation. Physical Therapy Tip Week 7 “Animal Yoga”

● Cat Pose: While in all 4’s (hand and knees), round your back and tuck your chin to your chest and pretend you are a kitty cat https://childreninspiredbyyoga.com/

Page 4: Here are some ideas · Using our fingers to manipulate and shape play doh helps to strengthen our fine motor skills needed for writing, typing, and self-care skills. Can your student

● Snake Pose: Lay on your belly, placing palms flat next to your shoulders, press into into your hands lifting you head and chest off the ground (keep

those hips down) and hiss like a snake. https://childreninspiredbyyoga.com/

Occupational Therapy: This week let's talk about our emotions with play doh! Draw an outline of a face on a piece of paper WITHOUT the eyes, eye brows, nose, or mouth. Then name an emotion and have your child try to mold play doh pieces into facial features that match that emotion. Being able to name our emotions and express how we feel is an important social emotional skill. Is your child struggling to know how their face looks when they feel an emotion? If so then show them a picture of someone feeling happy or sad or have your child make the face in the mirror so they can see their own facial expressions and then try to build it. Using our fingers to manipulate and shape play doh helps to strengthen our fine motor skills needed for writing, typing, and self-care skills. Can your student make the play doh into different shapes like a ball or a long snake? Encourage your child to hold the play doh with their fingertips instead of with their whole hand. Then try writing 1-2 sentences using the emotion word that you just created! Don’t have play doh at home? Here is a fun recipe you can make it yourself! https://onemumandalittlelady.com/easy-homemade-playdough-recipe-without-cream-tartar/ APE-see below & do it twice

DIRECTIONS FOR ART CHOICES WEEKS 7 and 8

Web Choice :

- Youtube.com - Enter “pin koro” (in the search bar) - Select the icon that has the cartoon boy in the circle (do not click on the red button that says

“subscribe”…just click on the circle) - Select from any of the sections that look fun to try:

o “how to turn words into a cartoon” o “very easy cartoon illusions” o “funny paper craft DIY & drawing” o “3-D coloring pages” o “cute and kawaii doodles” o “easy drawings”

- If you have crayons or any other options for coloring your drawings…great…If not, pencil drawings are wonderful too.

Paper Choice:

*** Use the “CREATIVITY WARM-UP” sheet which was sent in the WLS package for WEEKS 7 and 8 *** *** Please make sure you are using the grade appropriate sheet***

K-3: Please complete 1 creativity warm-up box each time you choose the “art special” on your choice

boards. The directions for the “Creativity Warm-up” is at the top of the sheet as well as an example. If you would like more space to make your drawing larger, feel free to use another sheet of paper and simply copy the LINE or SHAPE from the box you are working on to complete your drawing. If you complete the “Creativity Warm-up” sheet before week 8 ends, have a family member draw you a fun line or shape to use on a separate sheet of paper and show them how creative you are by using their line or shape to make a drawing.

4-6: Please complete 1 or 2 creativity warm-up box each time you choose the “art special” on your choice boards.

If you have crayons or any other options for coloring your drawings…great…if not, pencil drawings are wonderful too. Be mindful of creativity and craftsmanship (the nice, neat, quality of your work).
