Both field trip destinations are going to be fun for the younger grades since it gets their mind moving more about what they learned in class.
They’ll be able to have more of a hands-on experience with the artifacts they were taught about or the ways Nevadans did things in the
past.

Economics A Banker from Bank of America
I think it would be important to bring this speaker in to give more examples and show
students how important it is to save. The banker could tell the students that without money
saved, they won’t be able to go out and buy a new “toy” that they want. It’s important to tie in life like things with the younger students so that
they learn more.

Since it’s hard to travel to the grand canyon with younger children, this website makes it so that the grand canyon is on their fingertips. The panoramic view lets children learn more about
history, geography, and rocks.

Pyramids
The idea of Egyptians and pyramids is one that excites the younger students all over the valley.
This virtual tour makes the students feel like they are really in Egypt looking at all the beauty
these men made objects have to offer. It’s important to mention to the students why these
were invented and how long it took to build them. I’m a firm believer in adding all the details
in a story that people wouldn’t think about.

Both destinations are going to be used to teach the students not only about history but
Nevada’s history. I can show the students what people back in the past went through to get to where we are today. Hoover Dam shows the
time, effort, and dangerousness it took to build something so powerful. The testing museum
also shows the brains and dangerousness it took to see if an Atomic Bomb was worth it or as
strong as we wanted.

Civics A police Officer or Firefighter
Another guest speaker that can talk about the importance of picking a job that helps out the community. Showing students how important
these jobs are to the community lets them know that learning about civics in the classroom will
help them better understand the world at a later time. I think all the stories that come with this
speaker is one that is needed in any classroom.

panoramas/Museum of Natural History
What an exciting website to have students view a major museum as if they were actually there in each room! This virtual field trip is a great way for students to see that learning about
history from another state isn’t as hard.

Seeing how another culture lives is important to teach children. Letting them tour these
Japanese houses will open their eyes to how different a lifestyle can be and to see how much
is different in other countries.

1. Explain which field trip you are most excited about.
I have always wanted to go to the Atomic Testing Museum so that field trip seems like the best one to me. When I think about that museum, I think about all the people went through when they had to test these Atomic Bombs so the museum seems so much more to me, and it has a lot of history and stories behind it.
2. What challenges did you run into during this assignment?
It was hard to decide what field trips were for the younger students compared to the older ones. When I was looking at the different field trips I kept thinking they were all for the older kids. It was like I had to reach to make sure the younger students could benefit from it.
