7 Things You Should Never Do In Ireland
What are some of the things you should never do in Ireland?
If you love travelling it’s best to become familiar with some
cultures and tradition of the local. You don’t want to offend anyone
of course and Ireland is no exception.
When visiting Ireland keeping it casual is the best advice when
meeting people in Ireland.Irish people are naturally gregarious
and talkative.
Here are 7 things you should never do in Ireland:
1. Talk About Leprechauns
A leprechaun is a type of fairy in Irish folklore. They are often
described as wizened old men with pots of gold. Irish children
are told the story of the leprechaun and his hidden pot of
gold to be found at the end of a rainbow.
They say Leprechauns always either wear hats or have long hair
but only their wives–sworn to secrecy know if Leprechauns
actually have pointed ears. It is rumoured
that Leprechauns may actually be Irish Elves. In Ireland, people
never talk about leprechauns so if you are planning to visit Ireland
never crack jokes or talk something about leprechauns.
2. Order Corned Beef and Cabbage
If its St. Patrick’s Day, so naturally we think of corned beef and
cabbage, that’s just US tradition. It may surprise you to learn that corned beef and cabbage is not a traditional Irish dish as you may
have thought.
Although it’s a signature dish of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the Irish
‘tradition’ of corned beef and cabbage is actually more Irish-
American than just Irish.
3. Use A Fake Irish Accent
Some tourists are so keen to assert their Irish identity and try to imitate the Irish accent. This
never works and never ends happily.
If you are visiting Ireland just speak in your normal voice and the Irish warm to you instantly.
4. Order An “Irish Car Bomb”
It’s an American cocktail though its called Irish car bomb because
of the use of Guinness Baileys Irish Ice cream and the Irish
whiskey Jameson. In all seriousness, do not try to
order an Irish Car Bomb in Ireland as they fond it offensive.
5. Just Visit Dublin
Ireland is world-renowned for its beauty. It’s a home to some of the
most inspiring drives.
The rolling green hills, gorgeous cliffs and coastlines are enough of a reason for anyone to pack their bags. If you’re a “Game of Thrones” diehard, you can visit Westeros — or at least the real-
life equivalent.
6. Talk About American Politics
Most Irish are like Europeans and are more sympathetic to
democrats, so if you’re a fan or you love Donald Trump it’ll be best to keep your thoughts to
yourself.
7. Brag That You’re 100% Irish
If you think you got Irish blood or your parents are both Irish but you are travelling from America. Well,
don’t plan on bragging about being 100% Irish to any locals.
This is because the Irish people consider themselves 100% Irish, never argue about it as you won’t
win.
