The story of Hercules.

Zeus, after leaving Alcmene pregnant, mother of Heracles, proclaimed that the next child born in the house of Perseus would become king.

In a fit of madness caused by Hera, Heracles killed his own children. When he regained sanity and realized what he had done was isolated from the world, went to live alone to the wilderness. It was found by his brother. In penance for this action, the Delphic Sibyl told him he had to carry out a series of twelve labors.
