HOOVER HIGH KEY CLUB
OFFICIAL NEWLETTER: BACK-TO-SCHOOL ISSUE
Hello Key Clubbers!
Time to stash away the swim suits and crack
open the books, because the school year is fast ap-
proaching! With less than two weeks left, I think this
would be the perfect time to reflect the great sum-
mer of service we have had. If I have counted cor-
rectly, we have participated in 16 events/volunteer
ops beginning with the Kiwanis One Day Project
(Including those with the division). I would say that
counts for one heck of a celebration!
I hope that everything has been well with you
all, and I hope for this com-
ing school year to be
amazing. Continue to strive
to be the best you can be
in everything you do.
Best regards,
Magy Avedissian

“I had a great time volunteering for the Musique
event. The staffers there were very kind to us and
thankful that we were even able to be there
and stay for as long as we did. With it being a
hot and humid day, the staffers also made sure
that we had more than enough water to keep
us from dropping dead. They made sure we had
a nice and relaxing time on a day when I'm sure
most of us there would rather be in our air condi-
tioned homes. If given the chance, I would be
more than happy to volunteer there again.”
Chris Chung
“Volunteering with the Hoover Key Club was a
wonderful experience. It was my first time partici-
pating in an event with them and it won’t be my
last. I enjoyed working with other students and be-
ing able to help them. At the event, we set up
signs and tables which was actually fun when
working together. After everything was finished,
the place looked spectacular. Working at this
event was a fun way to help the community and
meet new people.”

“Attending bridge parties sounds something out of the ordi-
nary, but they're still a party. There were a lot of booths we
helped set up, and in the heat we had to jog back and forth
from opposite ends of the bridge carrying items that the
booths needed. I found it to be exciting, because as long as
there were tasks around, someone has to complete it. My fa-
vorite memory of the event was that my fellow members and
I sat next to the coordinator's tent and as soon as we re-
turned to take a break in the shade, the coordinator in the
next couple of seconds would be radioed in with a new task
for us. I really enjoyed the event a lot, we worked around the
clock trying to finish the tasks given and saving energy to
make it back to the resting spot in the heat.”

“On Saturday, July 19, key clubbers from various divisions
(within Region 7) gathered at Dockweiler State Beach for
the annual Region 7 Beach Clean Up! This event consisted
of cleaning up more than 3 miles of trash, meeting/making
new friends, and simply enjoying a day at the beach. To
begin with, for clean up we were separated into groups
based on the day of our birthdays (so those born on the
first of ANY month, were to form a group). In my opinion,
using this tactic had seemingly helped out a lot of people
as they were able to get to know others and not be so
awkward the rest of the day. In fact, many people left the
event with having at least made one new friend! To add
on, being near the ocean, having a diverse amount of ath-
letes, intellects and great loads of food had made this
beach clean up one successful service/social event! I defi-
nitely can't wait for next year and (of course) hope to see
more people attend!”
Eileen Wisco
“The Region 7 beach clean up was an awesome event!
I haven't seen most of my friends in Key Club in a while,
and it was fun serving with them in helping clean up
Dockweiler Beach at this huge event. When I mean by
huge, I mean by the turnout of people who showed up!
I formed a lot of new friendships with people from other
divisions, and the activities that the Lieutenant Gover-
nors prepared for us were exciting. All in all, I had a
really great time hanging out with my ohana at the
beach and at the same time serve to the community in
helping clean up.”

“It’s the feeling you get when you help people with some-
thing simple that puts a smile on their face, it’s the amaz-
ing feeling you get when you sit in a classroom full of peo-
ple being part of the Key Club and planning the events to
help the outside world. Key Club is not about just doing
community service or filling out the hours, its about coming
together to help the world around us. That’s the reason I'm
in key club, because it makes me happy to see all of us
working together on something that will help others. I am
new to Key Club and I have been to a couple of events
which made me happy because I knew in that event I did
something to help the outside world. And of course when
you go to these events you get to know a lot of people,
gather more information about jobs, have fun, laugh and
SERVE !”

CHILD S.H.A.R.E.
For the month of July, the member of the
month goes to Chris Chung.
Chris is a diligent and hard-working member of
our club and joined in his junior year. At the Muse/
ique’s Summer of Sound music festival, he kept his
cool in the heat of Beckman Mall Lawn with setting
up the venue, and followed his tasks that were given
in a straightforward manner. He is very upbeat and
optimistic in every situation during the festival’s set
up, something of which the club finds very enjoyable
when he swings by after he’s finished with his tasks.
He even brought his sister along, an incoming fresh-
man who is ALSO joining Key Club after hearing
about it from her brother. Chris goes above and be-
yond leadership in Key Club with strong decisive skill
and talent.
Congrats on winning Member of the Month,
Chris!
In a surprising turnout, Annika Arambulo
our club Bulletin Editor is once again honored
Officer of the Month for July!
Annika has been doing a terrific job of
updating the club’s page with awesome
newsletters every month, but she also performs
admirably at service events. She helped out at
the Muse/ique’s Summer of Sound music festi-
val and the Region 7 beach cleanup with
tasks completed as soon as they are issued. As
soon as she enters a service event, she is fo-
cused and can bond with any member to
help finish the objectives on time. Annika is in-
credibly a caring and happy individual at
Hoover’s club who can go unbound lengths to
giving back to the community.
Congratulations on being honored once
more as July’s Officer of the Month, Annika!
Keep up the good work.
