CHILDREN IN CONFLICT
Warfare is perpetrated by adults but always
touches the lives of children. In the last decade, an
estimated two million children have been killed in
armed conflicts, four to five million more have been
disabled, and more than 12 million made
homeless. Many more millions have been
traumatised by the atrocities they have been
forced to witness or take part in.
Children in Conflict brings together eight
contemporary artists whose work highlights the
plight of children caught up in conflicts across the
globe. Many of the artists have experienced at first
hand the trauma of conflict and seen the
devastating effect it can have on people’s lives.
Artists featured within the exhibition include Martha
Rosler, John Keane, Simon Norfolk, Guy Tillim, Laura
Ford, Anthony Haughey, Emma Summers and
Monika Oeschler.
EXHIBITION EXTRASWar Child Talk FREE

how their support has helped thousands. This talk will
provide an invaluable insight into the issues raised in
the exhibition.
Suitable for all ages, no booking required.

Popular music in Coventry from the 1950s to the
present
This exciting exhibition celebrates Coventry’s rich
musical heritage, from Frank Ifield to The Enemy. It
brings together for the first time a fantastic selection
of music memorabilia which highlights the vibrancy
and creativity of Coventry music.
For many people the pinnacle of the city’s musical
success came with Two Tone, when The Specials
and The Selecter created a distinctive sound which
reached an international audience. Yet Coventry
has produced many other talented and successful
artists, from the Zodiacs, Frank Ifield and Vince Hill,
through The Sorrows, The Mighty Avengers and
Lieutenant Pigeon, to Hazel O’Connor, King, Panjabi
MC, Stereo Nation and current chart successes, The
Enemy. This exhibition highlights their achievements.
Visitors can see a wealth of memorabilia relating to
all of these artists and many more, including
instruments, clothing worn on stage, handwritten
song lyrics, albums and posters, many of which
have been lent by the artists themselves. A highlight
of the exhibition is the rare opportunity to see
interviews with the artists in newly-made film
footage. You can also have a go at mixing your
own track and of course, listen to many of the great
songs produced by Coventry bands.
