W e’re seven years running now, and it’s still going strong. ere were 15 companies who participated the first year, of which 10 con- tinue to play, and six of those still vie for the Corporate Cup. Some companies only play one or two events where others have multiple teams in all events. Either way, I still consider it a success. We try to make it fun for everyone who participates and even those who just come to watch. We change it up from year to year to keep the games exciting. For exam- ple, we played Bubble Ball Soccer this year instead of Texas Holdem. We’ve had events such as Coed Soſtball, Go-Kart Racing, and Scavenger Hunt, and although these events haven’t been in our line up recently, doesn’t mean we won’t have them in the future. A lot of it depends on the inter- est and the availability of females. Most businesses who participate are more male based than female so getting five females to play soſtball is going to be a difficult challenge for them, thus they may choose to have two teams in an event that doesn’t require as many females, like Archery or Trap Shoot. If you want to know how much fun the events are, then come be a spectator next year… For me, hands down it’s the partici- pants who make it fun. It’s also a competi- tion. Of course you’re going to have those players who are all about winning, but you’re also going to have those who just want to have fun. It’s a great combination! I mean, how can you not laugh at people getting knocked around like a guinea pig in a ball trying to kick a soccer ball in to a goal? It’s hilarious! And to watch players compete in 3-on-3 Basketball is almost unnerving. e competition in this event definitely brings out the testosterone in the players… and all the anger that’s been built up in them for the past year. ere are also the more mellow events, such as e Mystery event, which was just that, a mystery. CSI, crime scene investiga- tor was the theme. e participants were requested to “act their role.” Some players acted better than others but everyone had a great time deciphering clues, getting in people’s faces, and trying to find out who killed who and why. I always get asked which event is my favorite. I truly don’t have one. ere are some that are more exciting than others, but I’d have to say my favorite part about all of it is seeing the smiles on people’s faces and the hunger on the most competi- tive to win; To see adults playing elemen- tary kids games (kickball). It’s not easy to get out there and run the bases if you haven’t done it for a very long time. And most of the participants only play a hand- ful of these events once a year, during the Corporate Games. So I expect to see you next year at one of these events. We’re seven years running now, and it’s still going strong. Th ere were 15 companies who

participated the fi rst year, of which 10 con-tinue to play, and six of those still vie for the Corporate Cup. Some companies only play one or two events where others have multiple teams in all events. Either way, I still consider it a success.

We try to make it fun for everyone who participates and even those who just come to watch. We change it up from year to year to keep the games exciting. For exam-ple, we played Bubble Ball Soccer this year instead of Texas Holdem. We’ve had events such as Coed Soft ball, Go-Kart Racing, and Scavenger Hunt, and although these events haven’t been in our line up recently, doesn’t mean we won’t have them in the future. A lot of it depends on the inter-est and the availability of females. Most businesses who participate are more male based than female so getting fi ve females to play soft ball is going to be a diffi cult challenge for them, thus they may choose to have two teams in an event that doesn’t require as many females, like Archery or Trap Shoot.

If you want to know how much fun the events are, then come be a spectator next year… For me, hands down it’s the partici-pants who make it fun. It’s also a competi-tion. Of course you’re going to have those players who are all about winning, but you’re also going to have those who just

want to have fun. It’s a great combination! I mean, how can you not laugh at people getting knocked around like a guinea pig in a ball trying to kick a soccer ball in to a goal? It’s hilarious! And to watch players

compete in 3-on-3 Basketball is almost unnerving. Th e competition in this event defi nitely brings out the testosterone in the players… and all the anger that’s been built up in them for the past year.

Th ere are also the more mellow events, such as Th e Mystery event, which was just that, a mystery. CSI, crime scene investiga-tor was the theme. Th e participants were requested to “act their role.” Some players acted better than others but everyone had a great time deciphering clues, getting in people’s faces, and trying to fi nd out who killed who and why.

I always get asked which event is my favorite. I truly don’t have one. Th ere are some that are more exciting than others, but I’d have to say my favorite part about all of it is seeing the smiles on people’s faces and the hunger on the most competi-tive to win; To see adults playing elemen-tary kids games (kickball). It’s not easy to get out there and run the bases if you haven’t done it for a very long time. And most of the participants only play a hand-ful of these events once a year, during the Corporate Games.

So I expect to see you next year at one of these events. Who knows, maybe you’ll fi nd the kid in you again too.
