Caé Braga House and Atelier

The project goal was to create a combined atelier and residence for the artist Caé Braga. The site is located next to the Maison La Roche designed by Le Corbusier, The volume of the house is defined by subtraction in a volume that is the same shape of the site therefore defining courtyards and terraces.

Residential Housing

The residential housing project was developed with apartments up to 47 square meters with integrated office and on the ground floor shops. The apartments are geared for people who work from home having their office in the apartment. The shape follows the natural curve of the site also generating a void that has the function to optimize natural ventilation resulting in an internainternal garden.

Trappist Monastery

Located in Asheville, NC, the monastery was designed for Trappist monks who needed a new monastery and inherited the land from a farmer. The designed was based primarily on topography and solar orientation, also taking into account systems of proportion and the monastic routine.

A monastery is a complex of buildings that compile the workspaces, the residences and places of worship of monks or nuns. The monasteries were created in Egypt due to the difficulty of the solitary life lived by the eremite monks. The closure is intended to maintain a climate of religious recollection, silence, prayer and ascetic other resources for a more perfect pursuit of mystical union with God. However, despite this physical sepaseparation from “the world”, the religious claim to remain closely united to humanity and to their problems through their continuous prayers offered as intercession. There are also Hindu, Buddhists, Jain, Jewish and Islamic monasteries.

The Trappist order is named is due to the Cistercian monastery of Notre-Dame de la Trappe. Trappist monks, have a daily routine structured around an inward life, manual work, and coming together seven times a day for prayer and chanting, the 7 daily chantings are the pillars which support the Trappist monk’monks life. ThThe monastic life, finds expression in, The praise of God, Silence, Lectio Divina, Manual work, Daily schedule, Reception of guests, Centre of Spirituality and Inter-religious Encounter. The Trappist monasteries are also known for consumer goods produced by the monks, ranging from breads and cheeses to clothing and coffins.
