Did you know that 80% of bicycle-related injuries could be prevented by proper use of a helmet? That’s what studies show. So remember, everyone should—and children must—wear helmets when riding bicycles, scooters, and skateboards.

Do You Want Clean, Renewable Power At Competitive Rates? As a member of the Clean Power Alliance, we are excited to announce that our community will soon enjoy the advantages of clean, renewable power at competitive rates. Starting in 2019, the Clean Power Alliance will be the new electricity provider for the City.

What is Clean Power Alliance? The Clean Power Alliance is comprised of 31 local governments in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties working together to bringclean energy choices to our communities. Established as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA), the Clean Power Alliance is governedby a Board of Directors, who also serve as the rate-setting entity and establish policies for power procurement.

How does it work?Clean Power Alliance will purchase clean power and Southern California Edison (SCE) will deliver it. Nothing else changes—SCE will continue to deliver power to your home or business, send just one bill, and be responsible for resolving any issues withyour electricity service.

On September 26, 2018, the City Council will choose to enroll our residents and businesses at a specific default rate and amountof renewable energy purchased, but each individual customer has the opportunity to select the percentage of renewable contentand price that works best for them by either choosing another rate option, or staying with the selection made by the CityCouncil. You may also choose to opt out completely, and your energy will continue to be purchased by Southern CaliforniaEdison (SCE).

No matter what offering you choose, our community will soon enjoy the shared benefits of the Clean Power Alliance, including:

• Customer choice & local control • Stable, competitive rates • Higher renewable content & lower greenhouse gas emissions• Reinvestment in local economies • Opportunities for community involvement

When does service start? The Clean Power Alliance is already serving municipal and commercial customers in unincorporated Los Angeles County andthe Cities of Rolling Hills Estates and South Pasadena (which were the first members to join Clean Power Alliance). Beginningin 2019, the Clean Power Alliance will phase in all remaining customers throughout its service territory. Service to residential customers is set to begin in February 2019 and service to non-residential customers is set to begin in May 2019.

Prior to being automatically enrolled, customers will receive two notices via mail. Two additional notices will be mailed postenrollment. These notices will include additional details on the Clean Power Alliance, including instructions on how to choose a different rate or opt out.

Before service begins in 2019, the Clean Power Alliance Board of Directors will make several decisions in the upcoming months. In August 2018, the Board will determine the rate and renewable options that customers will have to choose from when servicestarts in 2019. These product offerings will include a base rate that has slightly higher renewable content than SCE’s base tier, a100% renewable tier, and a middle option.

Where does your power come from? The Clean Power Alliance will distribute more information on its mix of power sources for 2019 once the product offerings are finalized.

To learn more, please visit www.cleanpoweralliance.org. For more information, please contact the Clean Power Alliance customer service staff by e-mail at [email protected] or call (888) 585-3788.

Please Do Not Litter!Take care of your trash! Public littering is not only unsightly, it is costly to all of us who must pay someone to pick up the mess left behind by inconsiderate and selfish others. It can also be costly to you if you arecaught littering, as public littering is against the law. If caught and convicted of littering or illegal dumping, you can be assessed a large fine or be given jail time or community service. Please be considerate of others and discard your trash in a trash can where it can be picked up by the trash hauler and disposed of properly. If you are driving, please remember your open window is not the opening to a trash can! Place your trashsomewhere in your vehicle until you stop at a gas station or other location that has a trash can. Thank you forhelping to keep Camarillo clean and beautiful.

Please Help Keep Camarillo

Clean.

Did You Know?Gift cards used for making payments are SCAMS! Has someoneasked you to purchase a gift card to pay for something? Thismight be a caller claiming to be with the IRS, or tech supportfor your computer, or even a so-called family member in need.If you have received a call like this, you probably know that thecaller will then demand the gift card number and PIN associatedwith the card.

Gift cards are equivalent to cash – and are nearly untraceable, unless you act almost immediately.

So here’s the most important thing for you to know: anyone whodemands payment by gift card is always a scammer.

Gift cards are gifts, not payments. If you’ve purchased a giftcard and lost money to someone who might be a scammer, contact the company who issued the card. Explain to them thattheir card was used in a scam. If you act quickly enough, theymight be able to get your money back. Also, report your loss tothe Federal Trade Commission. These reports help with tryingto shut the scammers down.
