Hello Year 6, I am writing this to explain to you why you shouldn’t be scared of taking the next big step in your education and your life, high school. Moving into an entirely different school can make you feel nervous but it can also be very exciting with new opportunities waiting for you from the start of your journey all the way up until you leave in year 13. Moving into the college might scare you at the thought of being the youngest in the school again but I can assure you once you start to interact with others and make friends you will start to feel more comfortable around others in your year and the years above. As you start to settle into the college you will find a lot of things to take part in such as playing football on the astro-turf at break times and lunch times plus the after-school clubs that you can attend such as indoor and outdoor football. Football at the college is a personal favourite for me at the college as it is a way to let out all of your energy and to meet new people. If you are a football player yourself, you can take part in the football matches against other schools after school finishes with Mr. Arnold being the person to go to if you are interested. I feel really happy being part of the EP College as they have something for everyone to do such as after school clubs to events such as sports day where you compete in races and events to get 1 st place in your year, events include the 100, 200, 800 and 1500 metre race which are my favourites. Fun and interactive lessons from the teachers here have helped me through my 3 years here at the college and also the lessons which required hard work and focus to work as these have taught me that its better to work harder instead of being a class clown. Personally I think that when you year 6’s become year 7s, it will be nerve racking at first but after the first week or two you will find it to be a good place to be learning and to take the next steps in your education. As long as you remain focused on the work then the teachers can help you take the right paths to become what you aspire to be when you are older. Keegan Ferguson Year 9
