Hello Year 1! Can you believe we have reached the last week of Term 3 already?! We certainly cant! It was lovely to see so many faces on our Zoom calls last Friday, thank you for joining us. Maths Topic: Subtraction Warm ups: practise counting backwards from 20 recall your number bonds to 10 as quickly as you can practise forming your numbers practise ordering your numbers to 20 and beyond count in steps of 2 practise counting up to 50 This week our topic is subtraction. We will be telling subtraction stories, and using a range of resources to show our understanding. Spend time talking about the vocabulary we use when we subtract: Take away, left, fewer, less, minus, counting backwards etc Spend time talking about the subtraction symbol -and the equals symbol ‘=‘. (Remember that equalsmeans the same as’. Dont forget to use practical resources you have around the house to help you visualise your subtraction story clearer! English This week we would like you to focus on a book! Our work will be based around Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs! On the website—in the stories with your teachers section you will find lots of familiar faces reading you a range of his adventures! Topic: Subtraction

Warm ups:

• practise counting backwards from 20

• recall your number bonds to 10 as quickly as you can

• practise forming your numbers

• practise ordering your numbers to 20 and beyond

• count in steps of 2

• practise counting up to 50

This week our topic is subtraction. We will be telling subtraction stories, and using a range of resources to show our understanding.

This week we would like you to focus on a book! Our work will be based around Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs! On the website—in the stories with your teachers section you will find lots of familiar faces reading you a range of his adventures!

We will begin the week focusing on the first story, there is a YouTube link for you to use if you do not have a copy.

Before you read the book, complete the prediction activity, by looking at the front cover.
