Hello Gylemuir David Attenbear here,
I have been busy thinking of activities you can do outside in your garden or on a walk. I hope you enjoy doing some of
these activities, they are for all ages. I would love to hear/see what activities you have tried out.
Make a rainbow with chalk!
Can you make lots of different shapes
with resources that you find outside?
Try using sticks, stones, leaves and
lots more!
Go on a bug hunt! Which
creepy crawlies can you find?
Work out the best material
to make a shelter from, by
making mini shelters for a
bug and testing them out!
Go on a rainbow hunt with
an adult. How many
rainbows can you see on
people’s windows?
Do your maths work outdoors. Use
materials such as stones to help you
when completing sums. Or use chalk
and write them down on the ground!
Can you find a selection of
stones and put them in order
from biggest to smallest?
Now try ordering them from
smallest to biggest!
Can you try to balance
objects whilst walking?
Just make sure the objects
you choose are not
breakable!
Find as many objects as
you can in your garden
that have at least 1 line of
symmetry!
Go on a senses walk with an adult.
Write down something that you can
hear, smell and see!
• I can hear the birds singing.
• I can smell the lovely spring
flowers.
• I can see some huge oak
trees!
Here’s a workout to try
outdoors to keep you active!
Make a stick person! Give
him/her a name, what is
his/her personality like? If
you have string, this is
great for hair! Can you
make a few and make up a
little story with them?
Guide someone around the
garden using compass points
and angled turns!
eg. Face
North, turn
90⁰ to your
left walk forward 5 steps.
Draw a map with these instructions to guide
someone to the
treasure!
Make fact files on a
plant/tree/insect in your garden-
take a picture and research it!
Make 2D shapes or 3D shapes
using twigs – describe their
properties to someone else.
Challenge!
Have fun, stay safe and keep washing your hands!
Re-design your garden – draw
it and include measurements!
