Downsizing
OUR LIFESTYLE HAS CHANGED SO DRAMATICALLY... FOR THE BETTERWhen I first considered the “lifestyle Village” as an option for my new home as selling up and “downsizing” was on the agenda, to be honest I wasn’t keen on the idea, I had many preconceived ideas about villages and most of them weren’t positive. Helena Valley Lifestyle Villages had started advertising on TV and my daughter and I decided (more as a process of elimination) to check it out.
On arrival at HVNLV we were pleasantly surprised, the setting was peaceful and beautiful with a lovely rural feel. The homes that we were sure we wouldn’t like (we had already had a look online!) felt solid and homey, not the flimsy temporary feel we had anticipated at all. They were fresh and bright and had a feeling of space with high ceilings and cleverly placed windows to maximise the natural light. We probably spent 2 hours + looking around, we had chosen a weekday not an open day so other than being greeted warmly and taken to the houses we were left to our own devices which was great, the houses and the village sold themselves and by the time we had left we had fallen in love with the place.
We returned many times before signing up and were invited to many meetings and open days which really cemented the fact that this was the place for me. Many of the lovely people I met when looking at HVLV during that time are now my neighbours and friends. During the process of choosing my block, pre start and just generally getting a handle on the purchasing and paperwork side of things the staff were always warm, helpful and patient, it’s a huge step and quite daunting at my stage of life and things could not have run more smoothly. I was mainly assisted by Richard, Mark & Linda and they were lovely, really friendly but also considerate, they fully understand the difficulties and emotions of making this huge decision and let me take my time, they never pushed me or tried to hurry a decision.
Richard once said to me “your going to love it here” and Richard you were right, I’ve not even been here 6 months but already it is “home”. I feel safe and secure and at completely at ease.
The community here are so friendly and welcoming, there is always something to do, groups to join and social events to attend when I want to but also peace and quiet when I need it too.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff involved for their help & support and making the transition so easy. Moving to Helena Valley Lifestyle Village was definitely the right choice for me.
