Heel And Sit News NEWSLETTER OF THE GREAT SALT

LAKE DOG TRAINING CLUB

June 2021

We will hold our 1st in person General Meeting in over a year on June 28th!

The meeting will be held at the Columbus Center. 2530 South 500 East—Salt Lake City at 7 pm.

Current meeting room is 101, if that changes we will place a note on the door informing you where the

meeting is being held. Since we will be inside,

please be prepared to wear your mask.

The presentation will be presented by Wendy McCleery & Penny Morrison on

AKC Temperament Test. We DO NOT have any updates on holding classes

at this time.

Great Salt Lake Dog Training Club March 22, 2021 Board Meeting

Attendance: Board Members: Due to COVID cases, new group restrictions, and lack of news/updates, this meeting was held via email updates. All Board Members responded. Excused: Guests: Meeting brought to order @ Minutes of Feb 2021 Board Meeting, Minutes approved as written. President’s Report: Nothing at this time Vice President’s Report:

Have sent several sympathy cards.

If anyone has ANY suggestions, topics or persons they would like to see speak/present at any of our General Meet-ings, Please contact Penny Morrison @ [email protected]  Executive Secretary’s Report:

Nothing at this time

Home Secretary Report: Preparing the membership directory to send off to Wendy for printing. In sending out the Board Meeting re-

minder for an email meeting, suggested for the April and future meetings we do Zoom. All agreed a zoom call would be best until we can meet in person.

Treasurer’s Report Everything paid to date. Show Report: Last week Wendy contacted Mike Moake at Farmington to book our dates and place deposit for the Nov trial. His response was that the dates in Nov have already been booked, are there other dates? After a lot of brainstorming, Wendy made a list of other venues the only venue with mats is Farmington. All other arenas are dirt floors. So I had a meeting with the South Jordan Equestrian Center (where the Beehive Cluster is held) and our dates of Nov 12, 13 & 14th is available and we can have the entire arena. Farmington is $500.00 per day total for the buildings, South Jordan would be $650.00 a day and includes the grooming of the dirt. Open for thoughts, but here’s some of my thoughts to ponder. It will be easier to get stewards being in this valley, we will be together in one building and have better com-radery. We can crate and have plenty of distancing in the building of 84,000 square feet. I have checked with Deb Nendell to see if this change would bring a secretary issue. She was thrilled to think we would go to So Jordan. Here is a suggestion she had that would take care of the price difference. One show on Friday, Two on Saturday and one on Sunday. This should fill up our entries. Wendy made a motion to go ahead and book the So Jordan Center for the Nov dates. Jeff 2nd. All in favor of holding the Nov Trial in South Jordan at the Equestrian Center. No one opposed. Motion passed that Nov will be held in So Jordan. Majority was opposed to holding 2 shows on Saturday, motion to hold 2 shows on Saturday failed. Trail will remain at 1 show per day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Nov at the South Jordan Equestrian Center.

From: Wendy McCleery: A big thank you to Snake River Canyon Kennel Club for such a super Scent Trial this weekend in Filer, ID. A very hard working fun group!! Thanks to judges Mary Lehman and Patrice Dodd they were amazing! The Beagle boys were awesome! They finished off 5 titles and earned a couple more legs as move ups! Here is the highlight..... 11 year old Maddi has joined the team. She Q'd in 3 of her 4 runs with a 1st and 2nd in Exterior and a 2nd in Containers!! What a super star! See... You can teach old dogs new tricks!!! And a thank you to Jeff McCleery for your support and being our driver...

From: Kristie Rasmussen: Seti achieved his AKC Junior Hunter Title today! When Seti needed something else to do at 10 yrs. of age, my friend Evelyn F. Boyd said "how about what he was bred to do and get a Junior Hunter title on him." This adventure has been so much fun and rewarding....thank you Evelyn for helping me achieve this title; I couldn't have done it without you. So many people knew Seti could do it. I had my doubts, but he managed to learn everything he needed to know (even picking up yucky birds). Thank you KC Owens for believing in Seti and helping both of us. Thank you Richard Cole and Michelle Howe for all your help. My thanks to his breeder, Cindy Pischke, for the Best. Dog. Ever! The Wasatch Hunting Retriever Club ROCKS and can't thank them enough for all their hard work today.
