The old saying is that March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb. At Hebron this year, March means having our Annual Meeting following worship on the first Sunday of the month, and ending the month with a Good Friday worship service on March 30. The Annual Meeting of the Congregation of Hebron Presbyterian Church will be held on Sunday, March 4, immediately following morning worship. The meeting was rescheduled after church was canceled because of weather on the scheduled meeting date of Feb. 4. (See article on Called Session Meeting on back page.) The three items of business for the meeting are: 1. Presentation of the Annual Report (the Presbyteri- an Church (U.S.A.) requires Sessions to give reports of activities to their Congregations); 2. Presentation of the 2018 Budget (the budget is adopted by the Session, but the Congregation must be given the information contained in the budget); and, 3. Acting on the Pastors Terms of Call (the PCUSA requires the Congregation to review the pastors terms of call annually, and any changes to the terms of call can only be made by the Congregation). The Session reviewed the pastors terms of call as part of preparing the budget for 2018 and at the Dec. 21 meeting voted to recommend that the Congregation ap- prove a 3% increase in salary (not total package) for the pastor, and the Session included in the budget a 3% raise for all church employees. Palm Sunday/Passion Sunday will be March 25 and Easter will be April 1. The Annual Meeting of the Congregation of Hebron

Presbyterian Church will be held on Sunday, March 4,

The Session of Hebron Presbyterian Church held its stated monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25. Minutes were approved Feb. 22 and are printed here:

Present: Elders Rober t Chr istian, Mike Ruleman, Allen Martin, Tracy Mayer, Brenda Smiley, Charles Buchanan, Doug Trimble, Moderator Rev. Frank Wyche, and Clerk of Session Robin Moyer. Excused: Nancy K. Cook, Lori Malcolm, Hannah Bush, and Lorrie Dean. Absent: Theresa Moore.

A quorum being present, the Moderator opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with prayer and devotions from Psalm 42.

Clerk’s Report: A motion by Rober t Chr istian was passed to approve minutes from the Stated Meet-ing of December 21, 2017, and the Called Meeting of January 14, 2018. A motion by Tracy Mayer was passed to approve a request from Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta to use the grounds/front parking lot as a rest stop for a charity bicycle ride on Saturday, June 16. A motion by Brenda Smiley was passed to approve the 2017 Annual Statistical Report as presented by the Clerk. It was noted that Elders Charles Buchanan, Lor-rie Dean, Theresa Moore, and Doug Trimble were in-stalled during morning worship on January 14, 2018.

Presbytery Report: Presbytery will meet Satur-day, Feb. 24, at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church at 9:30 a.m., with the elder commissioner to be deter-mined.

Annual Business: Clerk Robin Moyer previously expressed her wish to step down as Clerk of Session. Brenda Smiley nominated Tracy Mayer for Clerk for 2018, and Session approved a motion to close nomina-tions and elect Tracy by acclamation. Robert Christian nominated Mike Ruleman as Treasurer for 2018, and Session approved a motion to close nominations and elect Mike by acclamation. The Moderator asked El-ders to name three preferences for committee assign-ments, which will be announced at the next meeting. Session meeting time will remain the fourth Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.

Treasurer’s Report: A handout was provided by Treasurer Michael Ruleman with a detailed Report of Fund Balances as of January 25, 2018. The general fund continues in the red at (-$44,236.25). The total in our checking and savings stands at $105,385.49.

Committee Reports Personnel: No report. Property (Hannah Bush, Robert Christian, Allen

Martin): Scout Hut has been winterized. There is a re-curring problem in the downstairs bathroom and work

Worship (Nancy K. Cook, Tracy Mayer): Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14; Easter will be April 1 this year. Session passed a motion by Tracy Mayer to ap-prove the Pastor’s request that the Lord’s Supper be celebrated during morning worship on Sunday, Feb. 11, which is Transfiguration Sunday, one of the dates we have traditionally held Communion. Lenten Devotion-als will be purchased by the Men of the Church.

Cemetery: Some cleanup was done in the cemeteries. Christian Ed (Mike Ruleman): Souper Bowl Sunday

soup and sandwich luncheon will follow worship Sun-day, Jan. 28. The Hebron Youth will cover the cost, and proceeds from the luncheon will go to the Verona Food Pantry.

The next Stated Session Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m.

The blessings and prayer concerns of the congrega-tion, friends, and relatives were shared by Session for corporate and individual prayer. The meeting was ad-journed with prayer by the moderator at 8:20 p.m.

The Session of Hebron Presbyterian Church held a Called Meeting on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, in the Ses-sion Room. A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order and opened with prayer by the Modera-tor at 10:43 a.m.

Present: Elders Tracy Mayer (Clerk), Brenda Smiley, Mike Ruleman, Allen Martin, Theresa Moore, Lorrie Dean, Charlie Buchanan, Nancy K. Cook, and Modera-tor Rev. Frank Wyche. Excused: Elders Doug Trimble, Hannah Bush, Lori Malcom, and Robert Christian.

The meeting was called to reschedule the Annual Meeting of the Congregation of Hebron Presbyterian Church, which had been scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, but was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Session approved a motion by Brenda Smiley to re-schedule the Annual Congregational Meeting for Sun-day, March 4, 2018, immediately following morning worship.

Session also approved a motion by Nancy K. Cook that from this time forward, in the event of a cancelled congregational meeting, the meeting will automatically
