4TH GRADE MUSIC PROGRAM – FEBRUARY 19TH Hebron Elementary Fourth Graders will present their annual music program in the Hebron High School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19th. The public is invited to attend this program titled, "All About Indiana". Students will present many facts about Indiana and sing many songs written about Indiana or by famous people from Indiana. No special costumes are required. Any 4th Grader that cannot attend the program should let Mrs. Vawter know by February 6th. Songs will include our State Song, On the Banks of the Wabash, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Blue Tail Fly, Up and Down the Monon and many more. We invite you to attend and enjoy some great singing and entertaining facts.

NEWS FROM MRS. BALASH’S 1ST GRADE I can’t believe that it is already February! The first graders are really starting to soar this time of the year. They are making great progress in their reading and writing skills. Our class is currently working on writing realistic stories and paragraphs. They are using graphic organizers to aid them in planning their writing. After they have their plan, they then edit and write their final copy. I am very proud of them for their hard work and creativity that they are showing. In Math, we are starting to compare and order numbers to 100. In the coming weeks, we are going to begin to prepare for Valentine’s Day. It is always nice to incorporate a fun theme in our lessons!

NEWS FROM MRS. COOK’S KINDERGARTEN CLASS Can you believe 100 days of school have come and gone already?! We've had so much fun learning and growing in Room 24! We made fantastic 100 Day crowns to show that we are 100 days smarter! It's amazing how much the kids have changed since our first day of school. We're looking forward to learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln for President's Day. We are working on finishing up addition and subtraction skills in Math. Their sentence building skills are getting stronger and stronger every day.

I am so excited about the progress each one of my student's has made. I couldn't be more proud of them. Thank you for all you do to make sure your child is ready to learn. It certainly shows! Thank you to all of you who donated your loose change for our Coin Wars. Because of your generosity - we have $45.85 to spend on our classroom library!

HEBRON HOSTS 2ND GRADE READING AND SCIENCE NIGHT Recently, the Hebron Middle School held their 3rd annual 2nd Grade Science Night with the help of the middle school Science teachers, 2nd grade teachers, many parents, and lots of members of the National Junior Honor Society. Approximately 75 students attended this event. This night consisted of five different rooms that taught them about our galaxy, physical health, problem solving, how food could be used in science, and science labs. Some quotes from the 2nd graders the following day at school were: “The bubble thing was cool.” “It was awesome.” “It was fun. I loved the obstacle course and the goo was cool too.” “The fireball I really liked. They made the ball of fire really big.” Some quotes from the workers were: “It was fun seeing the kids have fun” – Allison Hano “It was exciting to see kids learn science in creative ways” – Sara Keys We’d like to thank the 2nd grade students, parents, PTG, and our chaperones for helping this be a really fun and successful event. Special thanks go out to Mrs. Barton, Mrs. Crowley, Mrs. Parks, Mrs. Steinhilber, Mr. Wennmacher, Mr. Brooks, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Pastrick, Mrs. Reinhold, Mrs. Rhoades, and Mrs. Schmidt. Also, thank you to the more than 30 National Junior Honor Society students and middle school students that made this a big success!

MOBILE DENTIST COMING TO HEBRON ELEMENTARY

We have invited the Smile Programs, Mobile Dentist, to conduct an on-site dental care clinic at our school because we know how important taking care of your children’s teeth is to keeping them healthy. Best of all, your child can receive dental care at NO COST TO YOU, as Medicaid, CHIP and most other insurances cover 100% of prevention treatment. Forms are attached to this Flyer. Just complete it and return to your child’s teacher. The Dentist will be making a visit in March, so get your completed form returned by February 17. This allows time for processing of forms. The students with completed permission forms will see the Dentist during school time hours for necessary treatment. Cleaning, x-rays and fluoride treatments are routinely administered. You will be notified that day if any further treatment is suggested. Hebron Elementary has been happy to host the Smile Programs for the past eight years. You can learn more about Smile Programs by going to mobiledentists.com. You may also contact Nurse Hallberg at 996 -4771, ext. 122.
