Poor Jeffery the Giraffe, he has a bad cold. To stop the germs from making others sick, he uses a tissue to cover his mouth and nose when he coughs and sneezes. Jeffery says, “You can also cough and sneeze into your upper sleeve.” Jeffery is lucky he has such a long neck so he can keep germs away from others.

I keep as healthy as I can be, by eating food that is good for me.

Bobby the Bear is taking care of himself by eating food that is good for him. He eats different foods like vegetables and fruits, grains from breads and cereals, milk and cheese and meat and eggs. Bobby says, “By eating different foods you will get all the different vitamins and minerals to help you grow and stay healthy.”

I keep germs away by taking a shower, but taking a bath also has germ stopping power.

Ellie the Elephant takes a bath or a shower to help keep germs away. She washes her body after playing hard and at least every other day. Ellie says, “It’s also important to put on clean clothes every day.”

Billy the Beaver has very strong teeth. Billy says, “Boys and girls if you want strong white teeth like me, you must take care of your teeth. Brush your teeth morning and night and don’t forget to floss.”Remember…Brush up like a flower, down like the rain and back and forth like a Choo-Choo train.

I keep healthy by sleeping at night, so that all day long I am happy and bright.

Suzy the Squirrel gets plenty of sleep when she is done her days work. Suzy says, “It is important for girls and boys to get to bed early so you get plenty of sleep. This will help you feel happy and bright all day long.”

Lori the Lion looks very pretty. Her hair is clean and shiny. She washes her hair a few times a week. Lori says, “I comb my hair every morning because I believe when you look good, you feel G-R-E-A-T!” Lori knows not to share her hats, hairclips, combs and brushes so she doesn’t get head lice.

Rocky the Raccoon uses plenty of soap and water to keep his hands free of dirt and germs. He takes care of himself by washing his hands often throughout the day. Rocky wants to know, “Do you know when and how to wash your hands?”
