OUR CAUSE:A STRONGER COMMUNITYThe Y. So Much More.

At the Y, strengthening community is our cause.

Through our focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, we embrace and

nurture the promise that lies in all of us. The Y

gives children, families and individuals the support

and resources they need to be more healthy,

confident, connected and secure.

The YMCA of the Prairie is special in that it

also connects communities with its two branches

in Holdrege and Lexington. Through sharing

resources, we can better strengthen both

communities.

This is our first guide that combines programs at

both locations into one publication. You will notice

an (H) for Holdrege or an (L) for Lexington after

each listing to help show where that program will

take place. We hope this guide helps you find many

ways to become more connected this fall.

We invite you to participate in one or more of the

following events that showcase our work in social

responsibility:

Bounce Into Fall Free Community Event (H)Tuesday, August 11, 5-8 p.m. Welcome back to school! Bring the whole family out for the free fun and bounce houses. Curious about the fall programs? Come in to sample youth art and flag football and find out how you can help your kids learn, grow and thrive this fall.

Party in Pink (H)Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m.Party in Pink at the Y! A healthy lifestyle is the best way to reduce a person’s risk of cancer. Wear your pink to this FREE group exercise class to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention. Door prizes will be given! Breast Cancer Awareness Week will be October 11-17.

Veterans’ Day Breakfast (H)Wednesday, November 11, 7:30-8:30 a.m. Allow us to thank you for your service! All veterans and fam-ilies are welcome to join us for a free breakfast at the YMCA! Veterans are also offered a free day pass to the Y on Veter-ans’ Day. Please RSVP by calling the YMCA 308-995-4050.

Holiday Food and Snow Boot Drive (H)November 20-December 5 Take this chance to help others in our community by donating food and snow boots. Last year, Y members donated 172.6 pounds of food that was distributed to the needy through the Phelps County Food Pantry. We also collect snow boots that are donated to Holdrege Elementary schools so that all kids can participate in winter snow fun.

Join Our CauseMembership in the Y is a special thing. Be a part of a leading non-profit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

When you join the Y, you belong to a place where:• Parents find a safe, positive environment for

children to learn good values, social skills and behaviors.

• Families come together to have fun and spend quality time with each other.

• Children and teens play, learn who they are and what they can achieve.

• Adults connect with friends, pursue interests and learn how to live healthier.

• We all build relationships that further our sense of belonging.

MEMBERSHIP FOR ALLWe believe everyone deserves a Y, so the YMCA of the Prairie and the Orthman Community YMCA offers financial assistance to individuals and families who might otherwise not be able to afford membership or program fees.
