About the Survey
This survey was conducted by Edelman Indonesia in collaboration with the
Public Health division, Medical Faculty, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
Goals– Gather information about communication channels used by GPs and Specialists
when seeking and disseminating specific information, as well as their interactions with patients relating to their professions.
– Gather information about their awareness of Universal Healthcare Coverage

Methodology
• Total 421 (GPs and Specialists) with >3 years of practice in:
– Jakarta: 139
– Bandung: 122
– Surabaya: 105
– Medan: 55
• The quota of GPs and Specialists was set based on particular
population in each city.
• Face-to-face interviews
• Data was collected from 05 Nov – 14 Dec 2012

TOPLINE FINDINGS
HCPs are moving to digital content for diagnosis, treatment and general health.
Other than within the limited area of drug information (64%), medical representatives of pharmaceutical companies were a preferred source of
information in only 4% for diagnostic trends, 3% for new treatments and 4% for general health.
Less than half of the GPs and Specialists in 4 big cities understand the flow/process of Universal Healthcare Coverage. Comprehension amongst Jakarta
HCPs is only slightly lower than in the other regions.

4 OUT OF 5 DOCTORS (84%) IN JAKARTA SEARCH THE INTERNET, WHILE IN OTHER CITIES THIS HAPPENS AMONG 3 OUT OF 4 DOCTORS (77%).
More Jakarta-based HCPs are using online resources to search for health information. But, HCPs in other cities are catching up.

Less than half of the GPs and Specialists in 4 big cities understand the policy mechanics of Universal Healthcare Coverage, with Jakarta doctors’ level of comprehension coming in slightly lower
