What Our Students Say“10 years aer leaving formal education I never thought I would be back. Changes in circumstances lead to the opportunity of returning to university. I chose Social Care as it is a profession I have always wanted to get in to. e course content and modules were reective of everyday situations and made learning easy. I was concerned about returning to university aer so many years but need not have been. e lecturers were supportive and extremely approachable. As part of this course, I was required to complete 200 hours work experience. I cannot stress how benecial this turned out to be. My communication skills and condence grew as a direct result of my work placement. It also helped me develop a network of people and outreach services which I never knew existed. I highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in social care.” Leora Monaghan (Past Student)
“For anyone thinking about a career in social care, the BA Social Care degree programme at NUI Galway provides a solid theoretical understanding of the subject and excellent practical skills. As a Special Needs Assistant, this course was invaluable as it not only equipped me with professional knowledge and skills but it also increased my condence in my social care practice. e blended learning aspect of this course made it possible for me to be able to juggle the demands of daily life with the challenges of a degree course - with small class sizes, regular workshops and online feedback from lecturers to keep you engaged and supported throughout. I believe the best thing about this course is the people you meet and the friends you make. Having shared much laughter and tears, I le this course with much more than a piece of parchment. If you’ve been waiting for the right time or even the right course – it’s here, just go for it! Jane Doyle (Past Student)
