Problem 1:
Poor communication skills- Communicate via text– slow response to emails.
No stability/ order control- no specific officer duties/ training.
Solution:
Create a constitution with bylaws addressing specific duties and time commitment (A specific day/time needed to be able to run as an officer)
Officer training (retreat)
Constraints:
Officer cooperation– not willing to put in more time/effort
Constitution/bylaw– need members to be willing to do this
Financial limitations to train officers (such as retreat)
Problem 2
Distant Relationship– lack of social events, lack of officer interaction with members, lack of creativity
Solution:
More socials (BBQ, game/media night, sports/poker night, etc.)
Designate a social chair
Constraint:
Financial limitations- for socials, retreat, etc.
Problem 3
Limited effort- different priorities amongst officers
Solution:
Positive reinforcement system (incentives/recognition for members, officers, etc.)
Conclusion
UTD HOSA is still a relatively young organization. By implementing these changes, we hope to see UTD HOSA change for the better and become an organization that members can be proud to be a part of.
