This requires knowledge of diseases, treatments, computer systems and organizational skills. Health information technicians are specialists in great demand; the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics cites health information technology as one of the fastest growing occupational areas in the nation.

Medical Coding Specialist Technical Diploma
Second year:
Health Information Technology Associate Degree
The Health Information Technology Associate Degree is a one-plus-one program. A student will complete the first year with a Technical Diploma in medical coding. The student can work as a medical coder or other health information field, and then return to complete another year in health information technology and graduate with an Associate Degree.
