Working together to achieve the healthiest life possible for everyone in Ayrshire and Arran

Our purpose

10 August 2015Health and social care partnerships

The Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act was granted royal assent on 1 April 2014. It sets out requirements for health boards and local authorities to integrate their services, resulting in more joined-up, seamless health and social care provision that will improve people’s lives.

These new integrated bodies - the Health and Social Care Partnerships - were formed in spring 2015. The Integrated Joint Boards are responsible for the strategic direction of the partnerships, and make sure they are operating efficiently and effectively.

Each partnership has between 2,000 and 3,000 employees in total,

made up of local authority and NHS Ayrshire & Arran employees. Annual budgets for the partnerships are around £200 million.

With the establishment of the new partnerships, management structures have changed. This stop press bulletin will give you information on the structures for each area.
